...last Friday went well. Now I have my webspace back on line I can post up my experience and photos to match.
I arrived at the agreed time of 09:00 and the only person working there was ready and waiting (other employee off sick).
The reception area was quite spartan but at least there was somewhere to site, even if it was chilly :-/.
I asked for the existing system to be matched and this meant that the same twin pipes to backbox layout would be preserved. I chose the Standard exhaust note (vs. Mild Sport and Full Sport) as it seems stainless systems are noisier than the orginal OE.
As he was unable to replicate the existing slashed, rolled tailpipes, he re-used the ones on the existing exhaust as I didn't see anything I liked.
I left the guy to get on with it and he was finished four hours later.
He commented that exhaust would be an MOT failure. I had received an advisory last time. In the pictures you can see the brackets and join to the back box which is rusted through and crumbled in his hand when he took it off. It was the original exhaust, a gen GM one, so assuming it's a double walled one it had lasted almost nine years.
He was happy to answer any questions and fine with me taking before and after photos.

On balance it's noisier than the OE GM system (which I assume was a double walled system) and I expected this having researched stainless vs. OE systems on here. This is why I chose the quietest system available; then again it does sound a little more meaty :y.
However as the OE system was rotten and had holes in it I can't compare it 100% to the new stainless system.
As I paid £350 for the stainless system, and the local stealer wanted north of £600 for what would now be the single walled system I went for stainless as it was cheaper and should last longer.
Now if GM still made the replacement systems double walled then I would have seriously considered one :).

Yes, it's a dent and it's been there since I bought the car. You can't see it unless you're looking directly underneath and I only noticed it when the car was on the ramps.

Looks good. Would be interested to know how it sounds too.
Might be worth checking your diff oil level, too. Looks like it's been throwing a little out of the pinion seal. ;)

Yes, price included 10% discount on the standard price of £389.
Yet again the forum came in handy when other members advised that if you sit on a quote they generally offer a discount as an incentive in a follow-up e-mail.
As the MOT is due in a couple of weeks and I received an advisory on the exhaust last time I thought I would be cheeky and ask for the discount up front...and I got it ;D ;D ;D.
