Title: New owner looking for small parts sources
Post by: Shelby on 02 April 2011, 15:50:26
Hi all,

As a new Omega owner I am looking at replacing a few minor (mostly cosmetic) parts but have no idea on good places to look, so would appreciate any advice.

Things i am looking for:

- Hardbrake gaitor (is that the right name?) in leather.
- Central dash buttons for heated seats (both) and re window demister.
- Load compartment cover.

Will probably be looking at some other bits and bobs in the future, those are just a couple of bits that spring to mind.

If you place a "wanted" ad in the "test" section one of the admin team will move it to the relevant section

Welcome to the forum , you can look in the for sale /wanted section or post in the test section and ask for it to be moved to the wanted topic area. There are a few members on here that have those parts now and then or you can look on the bay as parts are on there aswell. Hope this helps. :y

Thanks for the info, I had looked in the sales/wanted area but read about the post count limit so thought I would ask elsewhere.

Had a bit of a scan about on ebay and can find some load area covers and some gaitors which is a start.

Typical to my luck, as I was giving it a clean out today and checking levels etc. the bonnet release cable has detached from the handle.  Hopefully that isn't a sign of things to come as I have only had the car 24 hours lol.

Even though you cannot post a "wanted" ad directly .. you CAN respond to others .. so Elite Pete is breaking a car at the moment in the sales area .. you can either post in his thread asking him, or PM him .. :)  or others breaking anything .. :)

Sort of, people with under 250 can not post at all in the sales section EXCEPT there own threads (that have been moved from the test zone.
To ask in others, you need to PM the seller.  :y

Nope, another tweak we've had to implement due to a small minority trying to get around the restrictions  :'(

Shelby - when you post your ad, you need to say if its early prefacelift, minifacelift or full facelift, as the seat heater buttons are different between all 3 types.

I'm guessing yours is minifacelift - 1998-1999 car.

Thanks, had a brief chat with Elite Pete via PM yesterday and have identified mine as minifacelift (registered Jan 2000).  I am sourcing some bits at the moment but the info gained from this site over the last couple of days has been great, thanks.  Can see me spending some time here during the time the car is with me.

I am hoping it shouldn't need any major work for a bit as it has a full Vauxhall service history up to 95k miles and its currently at 116k.

I guessed it was minifacelift by the symptoms - those 'softtouch' buttons peel badly. I swapped all my switches above the radio out for the more wear resistant pre 1998 ones.
