As above. Are the 3.2 cams the same os 3.0 cams ?
If not are they an upgrade for the 2.6 the same as 3.0 cams are an upgrade to the 2.5 ? :-/
Tia.

was wondering that myself, if theres any benefit putting the 3.2 cams in a 3.0l. ::)
-
And if so is it better to also have the 3.2 inlet fanimold and sandwich plate ? :-/
Or to put it another way - are any of the parts from the 3.2 worthwhile as upgrades for any of the smaller engines ? :)

Intake manifold and splitter is the same as the 3.0. TBH, the cams probably are, as well, but I haven't ever actually compared them.

So it wouldnt cause a problem fitting them to a 2.5 or 2.6 Kevin ?

I would ascertain the differences for certain before risking it (has it been done before?) but I suspect it would be fine.
At the minimum, measure the lift and make sure it's not massively increased.

I have a feeling the 3.2 uses unique cams... ...somebody needs to check EPC
3.0l uses 2 A cams and 2 G cams.
-
OK thanks Kevin. :y
-
And Jammy. :y :)........might be a question for Mr DTM ? :-/

I'm not very good at EPC .. but

It almost looks to me that the inlet cams are the same but the exhausts are different ??
:-? :-? :-?
-
The plot thickens. :D ;D I can see this becoming a challenge - who knows about which cams and what are they interchangeable with ?...........and what are the benifits when they are changed. ::) :D
Nige PM on its way, regarding another matter. :y
-
Inlets are the same, exhausts are different (but as we know, exhaust cams dont do that much)
-
Excellent, thanks Mark :y. So it would be ok to fit them in any of the smaller engines ? and presumably similar gains to putting 3.0 cams in a smaller engine? :-/

Yes.
The exhaust manifolds also help a bit (off the 2.6 or 3.2) but require a minor mod to the downpipes.
-
Be better taking the 3.2 exhaust manifolds off and putting those on a 2.5 / 3.0
-
Taking this idea a step forward...
Would the heads/cams/manifolds from a 3.6 lump liberated from say an accident damaged cadillac cts fit on an Omega 2.6/3.2 block? :-/
For a variation, the top end from a 3.8 v6 with supercharger onto a 2.5/3.0? :-/
I'd have thought that suitable donor cars would still be readily available around East Anglia. :-/

The 3.6 lump is an oldsmobile pushrod 12v lump if I'm not mistaken?
Kevin
-
Very different lump so no.....thats the global V6 ala the 2.8 Vectra
-
Ignore the above. That was the 3.8. ::)
-
Just for the sake of clarification. Im not personally fitting these parts to my car. I want to sell them in the near future, but I want to ensure I dont sell someone parts which arent suitable for their engine etc.
Interesting to hear about the exhaust fanimolds. :) :y
-
I take it then that the veccy v6 (2.8 et al) is different again to the v6 in the Omega, or could the 2.8 turbo be dropped in? :-/
For the diseaselists, how much effort would be needed to replace the 2.2dti with a 3.0 cdti v6? :-/
Might make an interesting alternative to the BMW lump ::)
I ask the questions as might be an easier upgrade than the V8 route, tempting though that is. :y
-
A few years ago, i was told by a traffic cop that the 3ltr cams have a slightly move agressive profile then the 3.2 cams :-/
Aparently, he dropped them in his own 3.2 and gained a bit more grunt :-/
-
Not according to MarkDTM. ;)
-
Aren't the 2.6 and 3.2 camshafts line bored in the heads? Don't know if that would be a prob though.
-
Pretty sure all v6 heads are line bored for cams. Its ok as long as you keep the cam caps with the head, so Im told. :y

Nah, the inlets are the key ones and they are the same :y

Will these cams work in my 2.2?
-
Will these cams work in my 2.2?
yes .. but might need a small modification .. easy enough with a hacksaw and file .. :y :y :y
-
So I should get some of these and I can make them fit.
Are they easy to fit?

Anything is possible given time, tools and money ...... I have no idea how much of each you posess, or your level of engineering expertise.

pmsl. ;D ;D ;D
A v6 would probably be a start :-/
Unless of course Ray is looking to downsize his desmond to a 1.0 Corsa lump to save fuel... ::)
Not sure that would work though. :-/ ;D ;D
