Title: Off to WIM on Friday...
Post by: Mr Hagon on 12 April 2011, 13:42:36
...for some new boots and a full geometry setup on the car.

It's not seen WIM to date, as I was waiting for the existing budget tyres to wear down.  As it happens they have done so and guess what, it's the front inside shoulders that have worn down first.

So, time to get out the Plusgas and start spraying away  ;D.

I shall take a chance and hope that the rear track rod ends can be freed up on the day and that new wishbones won't be needed  ::).

But if they are then I shall just have to book in for a return visit  ;).

For what they cost at www.vauxhallworldparts.com I'd get a set in.  I just had the same, needed two front tyres so went for full alignment and geometry, and the blasted offside tie rod end (inner and outer) completely seized.  New tie ros assy complete was something stupid like 28 quid delivered, so I got it sent and had it fitted, then went back and had the alignment done again.  But all the faffing cost me more than 28 quid, so next time I might just change the arm anyway, even if it's not needed.

Cheers

Paul

think this inside front wheel wear problem must be a miggy problem when I took Miggy down for her geometry check about a couple of yrs ago could'nt believe it both front tyres had  steel backing exposed at the extreme front inner corners had them replaced and the geometry done and drove a different miggy back to Leeds a real treat and she's still drives the same :y

I had mine in last week for a full set up, gambled on the wishbones being ok and got my fingers burnt, would have been far cheaper to have done them first but ended up getting them done there before the set up was completed as they were well knackered!

Are you saying that WIM keep a stock of wishbones purely for the reason that so many Omegas come in with knackered wishbones that it's worth their while doing so?

It's a long time ago .. but just after they opened WIM had a "clubday" at which they offered to do a free setup on a forum members car .. to be chosen at random on the day. If memory serves the first half dozen or so were rejected as unsuitable due to knackered wishbones  !!!!! So it seems to be a fairly common fault ..  :)

Oh yes, been there before with my previous Omega a couple of years ago.

Went for new tyres and came away with a need for new wishbones and also had the rear track rod ends replaced as WIM started to swap them out and recon them as it's easier than trying to free them off when they're seized solid.

So I expect to find all of this out on Friday; it's just that I need to pass the MOT first.  Should I need new wishbones etc. then I will get everything together and make a return visit at my convenience.

Not sure about this, but I'm sure the subject will come up; will just have to do some more reading as to the pros and cons of them.

As Kevin says ... I'm sure all OOF will wish her well.

Might not help at all, but, the prognosis now-a-days is extremely good, it will be tough .. but the success rate is very high...

All the best to you both

Nige

Sorry to hijack the thread and thank you for the good wishes, just goes to show how good natured this club is when a member is in distress.

Not good news.... Her condition is terminal.

We was expecting the results/ medication and idea of term today but we didn't get any of that. The results from the surgery are still being cultured and they won't comment until the P.E.T scan is done tomorrow. Once all this is done we will get the full picture.

They confirmed today they cannot operate to remove the cancer so we have three possible outcomes.....

1: The cancer is just in the lung, so a treatment of chemo
2: The cancer originated in her lung but has spread: A double dose of chemo
3: The cancer originated from the breast cancer she had 8 years ago, in this event a double dose still applies but the her term will be very short.

I'm gutted.... Kin gutted!!..... Nothing is going to save her life, so it's just a case now of finding out how long she's got.

What awful news, Tony.

I know words aren't much use at times like this but just remember we're thinking of you and make the most of every minute you have together.

I can't think of anything to add to the above comments Tony :(

Just that you must make the most of the time you will have together and fingers crossed that it can be as pain free as possible.

We are all thinking of you and your family at such a terrible time and wish you the best we can in the situation.

My heartfelt thoughts are with you both and your respective families, Tony.  My wife is now in remission for the second time from breast cancer, albeit that there is a suspicious shadow lurking as per a recent scan that needs further investigation...
