[size=11]Vauxhall Omega 2.2 CD Automatic Petrol
Im in dire need of some help!
My car as developed an unknown fault, the car as now been in the garage for two weeks and the mechanics are unable to find what is wrong. The symptons are as follows:-
1. Engine doesnt fire straight away, turns over for a few seconds before starting.
2. Lack of power when accelerating, almost crawling going up hill.
3. Stalling.
4. No Kickdown.
Theyve changed the cam sensor, the electronic throttle unit thingy ( cylinder shaped unit with a metal plate on it ), also found the wiring loom under the dashboard was broken as it had dropped and was rubbing on the steering column, they also changed the petrol filter thinking that it maybe clogged. They are now in the process of stripping the gearbox.
The diagnostic tool shows that there are no codes.
I would appreicate any help anyone can offer.

Why in Gods name are they stripping the gearbox when there are no clear symptoms of transmission problems or codes stored??? :o
Given that the Cam Sensor has been replaced already with no fix, I would be inclined to say those symptoms point more to Crank Sensor? Is the Air filter clean or been on for ever & choked with crap? Have the Breather pipes been cleaned? :-/

maybe its time to use a different garage or one of the experts on here :y

lot of that would be caused by a stuck egr valv e!!!

Sounds like they haven't got a clue and are clutching at straws at your expense. Ask them to put it back together for your collection then get it on a Tech 2 for a proper look at the codes and live data.. IMHO. :y

Any bets that it'll be the cheapest of pattern cam sensors they've used?

When you say that the diagnostic tool shows no codes what tool are they using? I ask because only a Genuine Tech II or one or two other 'dedicated to GM' products can read all the ECU's on an Omega. Even the Most expensive Snap-On / Sealey tools struggle and give wrong code descriptions.
Whereabouts are you as there maybe someone close who can offer assistance.
