It strted making the noise a few weeks ago checked oil LOW topped it up noise stopped this week its started doing it again just flushed engine dropped the oil changed filter filled her back up and it still sounds like an old taxi?? The strange thing is get her up to about 2500rpm and the noise stops??
Any thoughts greatfully received.

Oil pick-up is semi blocked. Not allowing sufficient oil to be circulated at low RPM's. Get it sorted ASAP else severe damage WILL be caused. :y

Is the oil pick up the tea strainer in the sump?

Yes.
Drop it and clean it properly, not just the gauze bit.

Ok will do thanks guys!

Remember that the clattering noise you are hearing will not just disappear in a heart beat. Damage has already been done, especially seeing as the engine has been run for god knows how long with very little oil combined with a poor pick-up.
It'll run for an undetermined amount of time, but a head re-build will more than likely be needed at some stage.
Not a lot of room under that bonnet either :-[

Regardless of what wheels are driven, doesn't it fail on not having enough of them to stop it toppling over into the ditch? ;D
