Well having just got swmbo a cat c renault megane one of the jobs i had to do was to find the code for the radio, No probs i thought as its got a lot of service stamps from the dealer not far from me,I poped in and went straight to the sevice dept where a nice young lady was eager to help.Having asked the question do you keep radio codes for renault cars that may have been purchased here,Yes she said tell me the reg no to which i duly did. Oh yes she said its here on the computer all i need from you is the v5 photo id and a small fee,Small fee i thought wont be much as she could see it on the screen. Yes she said its £25 plus vat !!!!!
Well as you might have guessed i did not pay walked out, All i can say is if its £25 to view a number i would hate to have a full service done there !!!!!!!!

When I bought my Omega, it was missing it's car pass, and as it had been standing for a while before I came along, it had needed a jump-start on the morning of the sale.
Thus, I needed a replacement car pass for the radio code, and was charged by Approach Salisbury, er, yep - you guessed it - £25.
Keep your radio code / car pass safe!! :o

why do they do that, its their car their silly code then they should have something like once/twice its free, there on £5. remember going into porsche for a stereo code, they give you refreshments relax in a lounge and give you the code fro FREE!! thats how it shouldve been with all dealers :y :y :y

It was a very similar cost from Mercedes for a code for her Smart's radio.

the renault and local ford dealers down here let the trade have radio codes over the phone for free if its on there system,vauxhall don't :(

I had to pay £25.00 for my Omega radio, they had to take it out and do whatever and then refit and gave me the new number...I thought the Garage was great though, I was well treated and they did it all quite quickly.......Sherwoods in Darlington....... :y :y The Stockton Branch, a few hundred yards from work said they could not do it...... ::) ::) ::)

It wasn't much more to get a new car pass for my wife's 06 Corsa, which gives everything, main security codes the lot.

Umm one of the guys on here does radios and decoding, can't he help, for a reasonable, OOF fee ?

As a point we as a dealer get charged for car passes from Vauxhall Security and when you do approx twenty car passes a week thats alot of money.
If the car was supplied new from us we will supply the code FOC as long as you are the legal owner.
Remember if your buying a second hand car get the car pass and the spare key or factor the cost into the price of the car.
Its a sad state of affairs that if it wasn't for the thieving scumbags we won't have to have this security

Local Ford dealer gave me the code to SWMBOs Fiesta a while ago without charging.
