Post by: russ0205 on 28 May 2011, 13:18:23
Well the beast i love is going to have to go i think, I sold swmbo car 10 days ago so she has been useing mine every day 300 miles and £120 lighter its not funny, as she only does short journeys. Her new car not coming for another three weeks,I had kept it a secret as to its mpg but its in the open now  :'(  I only do about 50 miles per week so don't care but she is now on my case,   :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

50 miles a week cost you a hell of a lot more to change cars

I agree martin but swmbo is looking into why do i need to keep it, I am disabled now after having a stroke so do need the auto, o k i don't pay for road tax but swmbo is thinking i will go back to work and be needing a car full time and the cost of fuel is only going up not down.
 :( :(

if fuel is the only factor for you to sell it , lpg seems a reasonable solution..however, if you drive it rarely and now daily usage is for a short period , not worth that much work imo.. :-/

Forgive me for asking Russ.

Has your stroke caused a permanent disability and no return to how you were or has it been diagnosed as long term, but not permanent?

The only reason I ask is that if permanent, you may be eligible for a motobility car, if that's a road you want to look into? (excuse pun  ::)) And you could always keep your Mig as a weekend car, if you have the space to that is?

Yes mate i am on the high rate mobility so i can have a motability car but,,,,   if i did that i would loose £200 a month in disability payments plus the only way i can have a good sized auto i will need to pay a deposit, When you work it out £2400 a year plus deposit. As i only do local journeys its not worth it, Swmbo is saying if i get a cheap to run car ie rover 75 diesel auto i still have a large car with twice the mpg,and still a cheap car, sorry but i am a cheapscate and will not pay big money for a car that dosen't do any miles,

the money that you will have to stump up to fund a 75 diesel will fuel the mig for a good while to come :y

Fair enough, was just an idea anyhow  ::)

Maybe worth pm'ing JoshWyatt on here, maybe able to help find you a Rover 75 diesel or know someone who may have one they're getting rid of.  He's just down the road from you (Oxford), if that's of any help :y
