A few weeks back I got A N Other pair of rear shockers. So today I eventually fitted them, what a barsteward the bottom bolt on the driver's side was, anyway while I has my head in the rear wheel arch I saw this & thought I really should change it! ::) ::) ::) I think it's been on since it left the factory!

That thought did occur to me too! ;D ;D ;D But as I have an air filter on order I thought I'd phone for a fuel filter too.
I was doing an oil change earlier & ended up dropping the filter housing while I was lying under it. :-? :-? :-?

When its off, run a hacksaw down its centre and look whats inside. ;)
Unfortunately, I binned and disposed of mine, of a similar vintage/nature, before the thought crossed my mind.
Interested to see what it looks like inside...... ;)

Looked at changing mine at the weekend but it was very awkward and I was knackered so didn't bother. It looks reasonably new and still has the sticker on it so I won't bother for now ::) ::) :y :y

Could have been worse; metal clamps around them to tend to make them leak badly. Fiats are 'good' for that. It's all good fun when you have to tell the customer that they're probably going to lose the whol tank full, and you can't recover the car as the fuel's gushing out!

:-? Bugger! Never thought of that when I just filled up this afternoon :-? :-?
I hope there's a plastic/rubber pipe before it I can clamp! :-/

Not an issue Andy B - you'll lose about a cupful, mostly all over your face, in your eyes, up your nose, and in your mouth ;D

It's a job for Sunday now, working tomorrow - OT to help towards the Fuel in France Fund. ;) ;)
-
Looks ok to me mate - bags of life left in that ;D ;D ;D
TB's right you will only lose a small amount of petrol, probably all over your face and head as I found out when changing mine.
If I had known you wanted one you could have had my old one - it was a lot better than yours ;D ;D ;)

Just got home from work & I promised the dog a pint on the way home from a walk round the local country park. But I'll change it tomorrow. ;) ;)

and this is inside the old one - the orange bits are paint from the hacksaw blade. ;) No really nasty lumps of anything, just black after 12years & 168000 miles worth of fuel.

Is it me or does that new filter look to be fitted the opposite way to the old one?

As long as it's fitted with the "Flow" in the correct direction, which I'm sure it is ;) ;)

As a newt at the moment :-? - just been to a funeral of a bloody good bloke! :'( but will sort filter before the journey to France on Sunday!
-
If its been driven far then it may be worth considering fitting a new one as the crap will now be on the wrong side of the filter medium.....turning it around will result in said crap now making its way upto the injector rail.

I'd thought about that, but was just trying to ignore it. ::) ::) ::) I've only driven it a few miles, but as you say, if there is any crap in the fuel line it'll be the wrong side of the filter. :(
