Title: Bidding on this....
Post by: Vamps on 14 May 2011, 23:09:59
I put a daft bid in and found I am winning, less that 2 days to go my max bid is half what he privately advertised it at..... :)

Not for me, for swmbo..... she is not complaining about the Mig but does miss her Mitsubushi.... ::) ::)

This is quite a cheap one really, there is a cracking one for sale in Hillingdon, London....we shall see.

Not at all, if I get this at my max price I will be very happy, alternative at 3 or 4 times the the price will need a visit to the Smoke......

Without getting into any arguments the Galant is a much better car than the Mig, had one for 5 years, lighter and faster but fwd, swmbo loved her last one.. :y

Not for me though, I like the sedate comfort of the Mig.... :y :y :y

you want a vr4.....

or should i say, I WANT a vr4.

4wd, twin turbo legnum with 280bhp minimum. And absolutely STUNNING looks.
Really agressive looking.

But it would have to be manual....which is rare....and cheap......and LPG'd for me to be able to afford to run it lol

"advertised locally for £1395" basically means "i dont really wanna sell for much less than £1395"

so be prepared to bid a bit more if you really do like it, as he will also use it as an excuse not to sell through ebay, or he may even shill-bid it

not to mention, its the final 30 seconds of an auction that sees the price jump the most!

Still winning but price has reached my maximum bid, other bidder / s are hidden, says "private listing - bidders' identities protected" is this normal? I thought you could see who other bidders were.... ::) makes me think I am bidding against the seller.... :-/ :-/ :-/

I am fortunate enough to also own a 1997 Legnum VR4 and absolutely love it so quick especially in tip mode, bought it direct from Japan 4 years ago with a warranted 45 kms on the clock and it had never seen snow let alone salt.

Beware of two things on the Galant/Legnum, corrosion in the suspension turrets if been in the UK a few years they are double skinned rot inside out and part prices are on a different planet than Vauxhall.

Sorry also forgot to say front wheel drive versions strip their drive shaft splines because they are too short going into the diff. If you can can find a good one as others have said get the VR4, mind blowing.

Had our last V6 for about 5 years and other than servicing and service items not a spot of bother, only sold it because it was getting on a bit and the ABS ECU failed and it needed some attention to the body work.. :(  Engine and Transmission were still sweet at nearly 150k........ :y

Agreed engineered to last, just had the MOT on mine and not one advisory, 4th clean MOT, though it has only just passed 60k miles so fairly low mileage I guess. My wife loves it, she wont drive the Omega its to big, but can't get her out of the Legnum even driving long distances.

I smile still every time I turn the key. Good luck with the bidding on the Galant.

a seller can protect bidder's identity, it doesnt bother me personally if i'm not prepared to pay over my max bid

it does make shill-bidding harder to detect though, so remember, only bid what you genuinely want to, if there's any dodgy bidding goin on it'll most likely get relisted and they'll blame a "timewaster"

Well it's gone £20 over my maximum bid... ::) I am not going to bid any more, it will be interesting to see what the final bid is, is the competition the seller... :-/ :-/

Not bothered if I do not get it, there are better ones around....... :)
Might send him an email expressing interest if it does not sell, that's how I got Master Vamps Car for a very good price and delivered included, mind they only lived about 3 miles away.... :D :D

thats never a bad idea, i tend to do that on alloy wheels listings!!

You'll get greater satisfaction if the car goes for several hundred more than your bid, as opposed to if it ended at £20 more!!

:o :o :o :o Did you get it then?? as it went for £820 think it was worth it for that??  wasnt it!! :-? :-? :-?
Hope its not what danny said, that would be dissappointing!! :'( :'(

To me this sold at £820 no mention of any reserve....I had a 'punt' with a max bid of £750...... :)

I know he did not sell it cos he sent me a message asking for a bid after it ended.... ::) ::)

And now, re-listed..........

Sorry, I meant to say that this made me all the more suspicions about the hidden bidders I was bidding against, as had I won this car for £820 I would have wanted it and the seller is obliged to let it go, even if he did not get the price he wanted, otherwise he should have put a reserve on it.....Just me being cynical.... :D :D

..........and rightly so. Asked him why he didn`t sell for the winning price and re-listed it higher. His reply
"so are you gunna bid me for the car? or are you just board and asking questions on re-listed cars. car is relisted due to a time waster if you must! know. anyway it did not sell at a high enough price so i am pleased the sale has not went through, if the car does not sell this time i think i will set it on fire up the hills that way i`ll get good money for it."

these people spoil ebay, if the listing winner is a genuine bidder there would be a negative feedback comment, and if there isnt one, you know they were in on it
