Post by: russ0205 on 13 June 2011, 18:51:56
Well swmbo has been complaining about the a/con on her car not working,No pobs i thought regass mmmm  so having a look around kwikfit seemed the best deal no fix no fee !!!, Anyway of she goes with her mum down to kwikfit it will take about an hour they tell her,so down to the shops she goes ouch c/card goes and duly returns one hour later, sorry madam she is told its not the gas it must be something else so we won't charge for this. BUT !!!!!  your tyres need changing and the shocker is leaking.Much to her dismay she calls me as it only had its mot 10 days ago. well after talking to the branch manager it appears the car is on winter tyres and must not be used in the summer, If this isn't a case of trying to rip off women what is ??????
I have just sent an email to there head office i wonder what the reply will be,having also attached a copy of the quote for new tyres and shocker 1pr

R soles the lot of 'em, one of the attractions of omegas and oof is you can avoid them either by DIY or using and expert who really knows the cars and takes pride in their work.

I actually think it's a fair idea, just so long as it does improve the standard of service on the ground and backsides get booted where required. KF really have some ground to regain as far as honesty of workforce and fleecing of customers is concerned, in common with all the larger chains of car repair outfits. In my opinion, that is.....

i worked for charlie browns (now kf) for 6 years and you have targets to reach ie 4 shockers , 2 brake jobs , 80% trackings  a day  etc etc . when the crap hits the fan the bosses side with the customers while at the same time tell the staff don't worry keep on having there pant down sell sell sell ,  NEVER trust a fast fit centre EVER   :y

Yeah, I think it's a good idea too. Best for everyone. It's no good just hearing one side of the story. KF need their say too.

Everytime it rains or gets cold dont you know we all pull over and change the wheels ? ? ?

Its 1 step away from saying the wheels are turning the wrong way  :D

I had a lucky escape last year. I took my car to kwik fit for an oil change and they discovered my tyres had been fitted inside out. :o

I have some sympathy with fast fit centres. It seems to me perfectly reasonable to have the technician have a look around the car while quoting or fixing the issue you took it in for. Most motorists haven't a clue and wait for the MOT for example to highlight issues.

They are after all commercial businesses out to turn a profit.

having said that years ago I took a car in to Leicester KF to have the exhaust looked at . It was up on the ramp and straight away the technician saw the bright stump of a screw in the rear tyre. I saw it at the same time and was just wondering whether it was in the repairable plug zone or not when he whipped a pair of pliers out of his pocket and pulled it out without a word. It wasn't repairable and cost me a new tyre.

Indeed. But they prey on motorists who don't have a clue. We've all seen it. What you describe would be fair enough if they applied sensible standards (i.e. the MOT criteria) and advised customers of anything they notice that truly falls below a roadworthy standard.

What I and, I'm sure, many others on here have seen is that they'll even fail items at MOT which are perfectly OK just to make money out of motorists who don't know any better.

On several occasions Mrs. KW has been to fast fit outfits for tyres in a car that I know to be perfect in every other respect only to come back with a list of "urgent" issues. "Tracking", exhaust, brakes at least, normally. Fortunately she knows more than she lets on, and tells them to shove it, but it's clearly an attempt to exploit customers who appear not to know better. >:(
