I recently bought a donor car to change my auto to a manual with, over the past weekend ive stripped off the parts needed. I'm now just waiting for the clutch to arive (hopefully wednesday/thursday) then I shall get it done on friday. As i'm doing it ill be taking lots of pics for a how 2.
At first I were quite nervous about doing it but now that ive taken the parts off, I feel a lot more confident in doing the conversion.
As soon as she's finished, i'll let you guys know how I got on.
Ta Ta for now

Best of British to you sir :y
-
I hope you have somewhere under cover to do it. Good luck :y
-
Thanks guys :y
Yeah, both cars are at my cousins bodyshop. So it'll be dry, warm and plenty of coffee/biscuits at hand lol.
-
Cool, if it all works out I could be tempted by a 3.2 at some point knowing that the gaybox can be easily replaced :D

It should be quite easy really (fingers crossed).
Going to buy (or borrow lol) a torque wrench for the job especially.
Last night I fitted the calm kit to the gear box, and gave it a cleaning with some Gunk.

Well I started at 2pm yesterday and finished 9am today. It was quite a PIA but its all in and now I have a manual MV6 at last :D :D :D. Still got a couple of little things to sort out like gaitor and changing ecu to manual. It was defo worth the wait of a year to get a donor car but, its not something i'd say its an easy job no way, in the hanus manual it'd defo get 6 spanners.
I didnt manage to get many pics due to been gunked up and wanting to get on with the job but, ill still do a How 2 if people want one.
Anywho, I'm now off to get some much needed sleep.

ECUs can be fooled into thinking that autobox present by grounding a wire, though probably better to get ECUs reconfig...
-
Yeah I read that somehere, would rather have it sorted with a tech 2 and possibly a software update too, just finding someone with a tech 2 ..... ;)
-
From memory, Tech 2 cant tell the engine ECU its a manual.....it is purely by grounding a wire which I seem to recall is pin 42 on the ecu (black/red)..
The only other item to reconfigure is the MID....this can be done by Tech 2 or a wiring mod.

I seem to recall its a config setting, but possibly may be later dbw units - I can't remember.

Good job mate, another MV6 rescued from mediocrity ;)
Hmm maybe the 3.2 isn't off bounds after all ::) It's not a job I'd do myself but I know a few guys who've done it :D

was it your car that i seen in june edtion of total vauxhall in rolling road test which produced 247 bhp,but the dissallowed the figure cos they were autos, good power should get more with manual :y :y :y

Its not too bad a job, just takes time. theres still a few things I need to sort, if anyone can help? That being the 2 hydrolic feeds to the box, where do they go upto and can they be completely removed?

Yeah that's the one. The dyno was over reading, not taking enough off through transmision loss being auto. But he said if it were manual, it should of been around 215.

I asume you mean the auto box fluid lines
They go to the drivers side end of the rad along the chasis rail.....they can be safely removed (if you can get them out!)

Ahhh excelent yup their the ones, later this year she will be coming of the road for a few bits and pieces so ill have a good look round.
Thanks for that

Nice going there - look forward to your write up. Wish I was as brave to tackle a job like this!
