Title: MG zr 1.8 Problem
Post by: rikki_essex on 11 July 2011, 12:42:55
I was round my wifes Mum & Dads yesterday afternoon and he was messing about with his car i looked under the bonnet and see the header tank was a funny colour so i took the cap off and it looked like there was quite alot of oily crap had got in and there and there was no water. Could it be the oil cooler or is it something else on theses cars? Thanks in advance Rik

It needs flushing out to start with. But more thorough investigation is needed... I'd be starting with doing a compression test ;)

If the coolant level drops, the K series engines are well known for popping HGs.

On the upside, quite and easy job, unless you are fitting the uprated MLS one, as then you have to change the ladder as well
