As some of you may have read, we managed to trash the transfer box on our Trooper a couple of weeks ago when travelling to Leicester to see my daughter.
Unfortunately by the time the cost of repairs was factored in, the end price was a bit too close to what the Trooper was worth so I reluctantly walked away from it.
As we need two cars at this moment in time with all my trips to the hospital and what not, the OH's godfather said that he had a 318 iS Beemer sitting around and that if we taxed it for 6 months then we could use it for six weeks and then either return it (with the tax) or buy it outright for £600 including the years MOT (which cost nothing as he is an AE).
My initial thoughts were that it would do for a bit while we looked around as Beemers have never really done it for me.
After having driven it for a couple of weeks, I have decided that the Germans do know how to build a car and this is definately a keeper.
It is one owner from new, FSH, 44K on the clock, and fully loaded with all the toys that were available at the time.
Initially I thought the car had been clocked or had it's instrument cluster changed, but it came with all the MOT's from day one and full BMW service history to prove.
The only blemishes on it are a slight dink in the bootlid and a couple of pin prick dents just underneath the OS door mirror, other than that it is immaculate.

PS
If anybody is looking for an Omega that is starting to piss me off (missus rang today to say it now has a coolant leak), feel free to PM me before I accept TheBoy's offer of petrol and a match ;D

That is what I call the last of the proper beemers. Well made, and reasonably well designed (for its era).
My mum got one of them when they first came out, and its still going strong. As said before, there is something about it, that I can't put my finger on, that means I'm not comfortable/confident driving it. Hers is the same colour as well.

I may get shot down here but i used to have a 318 e30. Only paid £250 for it when i was in a bind many years ago before i shifted over to Vauxhall and i will honestly say that i loved that car.
Easy and smooth to drive, £10 got me from Salisbury to Bristol with fuel to spare, lovely engine sound from a little block, nippy when you needed it and relatively cheap to run.
To be honest now though, i have driven a few different ones belonging to friends/family and i still prefer my landbarge any day of the week and like TB says, it isnt anything i can put my finger on specifically (bit like Saab owners and yep, owned 2 of those as well lol)

A lot of car for six-hundred notes. Low mileage too. :y

can't go wrong for that price, I used to have a 316 back in the early eighties and that had the 1.8 engine and it was bullet proof build quality was fantastic, I only sold it as i was with swmbo and i needed a deposit for a house,
would love a five series now but no cash to do so. The problem with owning a bm these days is you a tared with being an ignorant a***e to which a lot of owners are,
:y :y
