Title: s'broken again
Post by: ninjapirate on 01 August 2011, 16:59:10
Yes, my alfa has gone again, came back thursday last week after making it finaly to a alfa garage that knew what they were doing, who sorted the EGR valve as was suggested way back at the start by markdtm?
so far so good, feels much more powerful.
then of course just as i was thinking yeh i really do love this car, noise from the pas.....empty bottle....
then i make a stupid ass mistake, saying almost out loud as i got it out boot "dont put brake fluid in, thats bad, put the pas fluid in yes, that bottle there"  fill it up, as im pouring it in " erm why am i putting brake fluid in" pmsl
so i got my trusty pump on it, re-filled with pas fluid, turned wheels few times, emptied that repeated 3 times, just to be totaly sure i left none in and i had a load of spare fluid thought i could bleed it all through whilst i was there.
turns out i needed that fluid as the seals have gone on the pas rack!
so its in garage, whilst its up we found a broken rear spring too.
ok, still under warranty....or not! when i rang the warranty company myself as previously the car sales had been dealing with it, 1st off told me a new rack wasnt coverd (says it is in thier book) then told me the warranty on that car is for the previous owner! garage has tried to blag me, but they also told me in april someone claimed for a new turbo, which i have the recipt for being fitted in dec! not a warranty job.
so after a few fone calls, and the car sales saying its not his problem, (my warranty is with him, his choice to try oppsing around using the previous owners) he agrees to pay for it. i did mention trading standards, and that i was onto his false claim.
now, hes told me hes taken out a new 3 month warranty with a differant company for me, to extend it. i await to see the paperwork lol

thoughts are if to stick with the alfa, which i do love, and better the devil you know, ive spoken to a alfa garage that done a fair bit of work on it previously unfortunatly a bit far to do any work on it now, but he recomended a very good local alfa place. most the problems have been by mechanics that dont know how to work on that car.
do i sell it once its back, and get something else, or wait and see what happens in next 3 months whilst its under a new warranty?

to be fair there isnt really much in my budget id like to swap it for. poss  a new shape civic diesel, maybe a golf but theres sooo many here and theres only about 5 houses lol anything else will be older.

once the paperwork for new warranty comes through, and i call to confirm its what its ment to be and in my name, i can then deal directly with them, Im far from finished with the car sales tho.
my 5th curtesy car is a pug 207. kinda nice little car really, i had a new 206 gti back when they were pretty new too
