After 12 years (coincidentally to the day) yesterday my trusty? car went to the Spanish scrapyard. Collected free (that is the deal here) no cash changed hands. It was one of the very first mini face lifts regd in Autumn 1997

It was very tough seeing the car go as we have done 100,000 comfortable miles in it mostly  England up and down motorways etc . Also used it to scour France and Spain for somewhere to permanently move to. No crank sensor change but lots of other parts changed, including a failed gearbox (thanks to great help from Omegatoy for that). In fact thanks to lots of forum members for parts and help since the forum started. 3xABS ECU, 2 DIS packs etc etc

It died from a combination of items. I am fairly certain the head gasket had gone and the wishbones were in need of replacement - nowhere local to get "WIMmed"

I have taken loads of parts off her as I know that the car would just have been crushed as no real call for parts here, certainly not off petrol V6's. I shall try selling them but really it was just a way of sending her off.

Silly getting attached to a car but 12 years is a long time! (unless of course your name is Jim).

Still got the grey Elite but with no air con or music it is just a disposable runaround and will be for sale T and T this winter. Looking for a 4x4... :'( :'(
