well if you errmm say so???.. :y
-
You could get a real car with air con, brakes, proper door locks for half that. Low mileage though :y
Wouldn't go more than 3000 for it. Probably make 6000!
-
Yep,had one of those many moons ago, blew it up bigtime on the M3,never did get round to fixing it :o
-
Cooool!! My mate had one of those when he was about 15 for rallying around his Dad's farm :y :y :y
-
I had one of these in white for a while. Drove it all over France, Switzerland & Germany in the late 70's. About 83bhp IIRC?
-
If I had a classic Ford from that period ......I'd go for a 1972 Mk1 Capri 3000E, complete with the period BVR .... :y.

You could learn to ride a motorbike, buy one and the gear needed for that price Guy :y

True. Trouble is i learned to ride a bike about 35 years ago.
Learning to pass a test is going to be a bitter pill to swallow when i may well have more miles under my belt than the "expert".."teaching" me! ::)

Nice find Guy :y and no doubt more reliable than my Mig, and if it did go wrong then a doddle to fix.... :D :D
-
As suspected, some old clapped out pile of crap that should have been skipped long ago...
...but, ooh, well, now then... Hang on... Oh FFS... WHERES THE ENGINE? Is it in there? or a pile of old pipes and rubbish dumped in a heap. ;D
Do I like it because it's black though...? :-/ thinking a nice v8 and drive train in there with some decent boots on...
... No it's because it black isn't it! ;D
Not bad for a ford Guy. ;) :y

That little engine is the 1600GT X flow. Very punchy & responsive at all revs, better than the 1600 pinto. They'd hit the ton & 0-60 would be 9 or 10 seconds. They also sat a little lower than standard & had the GT suspension which firmed things up a bit! As said no sensors/cats to stop you getting home & even i can fix 'em.
If you drove a good one the charm & character MAY well grow on you....really!
Lastly the same engine was fitted to the MK1 Mexico....so there!!!!!! ;D

So have you already officially got a license Guy? Should it not just be a case of taking a refresher course?

No mate. Sadly i did'nt sit my test in 1980 when i was 17 when all you had to do was not fall off or hit anything & bingo, full bike licence. Then @ 17 you could ride a 250 on L plates...no CBT. Google Kawasaki KH250, Yamaha RD250, Suzuki X7, they were all two stroke screamers & after riding 50ccs (not restricted to 30mph then) these felt like rockets.
I've got to do a CBT, theory/Haz perception then direct access & then pay ins. for a new rider, although my age will help.
I've been riding on & off for all these years & got away with it but it's time to bite the bullet! :(

Do it :y :y
Its worth all the red tape and such, as per PM, if I can be of any help just shout. Think I have a copy of the software needed for Theory & Hazard kicking around some place :) - There is a "nack" to passing the video bit ;)
-
The neat 30,000 mileage is a bit suspicious, but it it probably doesn't matter anyway, as if it is high mileage anything important will have been renewed already. :y

Exactly. It could be right the E never being issued as a reps car & pampered or it could be 130k which on a car that age is the end when it happened but 40 odd years on, welding engine rebuild etc can give 'em a new lease of life.
Never seen a black 1600E without the vinyl roof either but they may have made a few.
Sure is a pretty motor either way. I'd go to 3 but reckon it'll make between 4 & 5. 8-)

;D well that's me told then ;D ::)
Think the chassis might need a bit of strengthening for the v8. ;)
