I've just sent my key fob to Martin Imber to be rebuilt, taking the key part off. Thing is, should I be able to start the car with the fob missing, just using the key part???
I open the door, alarm goes off, start engine, alarm stop's. Is that right?? :-/ :-/ :-/

Sounds about right to me.

As long as the Chip has not being removed from the blade/horseshoe part I dont see why it dont start....

If I'm corect alarm won't be off until you press the button on the transponder, if you unlock it by a key, you will be able to start the engine, but alarm will still be on.

I dont like electrics but as far as I know the key fob unlocks the central locking.
The key blade goes into the ignition barrel to enable you too turn it. The Chip speaks to the Transponder (which sits around the ignition barrel) to turn off the immobiliser.
I could be wrong in which case I know I will be put right ;D

I am pretty sure the alarm will go off once the ignition is turned on :y
That's how mine works. I've got 2 working remotes, but only one of them actually locks/unlocks the car. I suspect that the one that doesn't work wasn't actually for my car, and got mixed up at the dealer before I bought it. The key's good though, so I could just be confused.

Have you tried re-synching it as per the manual?
