Title: Alfa Romeo 156 1.6 Misfire
Post by: Del Boy on 22 August 2011, 16:57:20
Evening people, much to my idiocy I've just purchased a 2000 'X' plate Alfa Romeo 156 1.6 estate which has a misfire when you accelerate, starts ok ish, but if you accelerate it's like it's choking. Any ideas what this could be. £150 notes though bargain :)

Magic ;) See now this I don't know whether to break, if it's something silly I'll sort it, but it's got a full leather interior too which is rare on a 156 :)

Coils/coil packs/plugs/leads (if applic)?  :-/ Never had one, just a general guess ....

Think they're coil packs. Maybe I'll try and source one from a breakers.

Could be the variator, they can be tricky to set-up if the timing belt or head have been off recently.

Hope that's not the case as I won't be fixing that, and it's a tidy enough car  :y

More than likely it'll be the MAF. Notorious and I used to work for an Alfa dealer and owned two.............. unfortunately!
