Title: Got my key working in the door today....
Post by: Vamps on 21 August 2011, 22:22:32
I have had the car for a year now and the key has never worked in the door, not a good situation if the fob fails..... ::) ::)

I have read on the forum a couple of times about forcing it, that it will not break....well I tried that a few times but chickened out when it did not turn... :-X

Squirted a bit of wd 40 in the key hole and after a few wiggles that freed the tumblers, sucess, no need to force very much at all.......... :y :y

WD 40 is ok in the short term, but it will dry out again.....
......a squirt of powdered graphite will keep things lubed and gum-free for ages! :y

Well done Mike - WD40 will keep the water out but as Debs says only acts as temporary lubricant. :)

You should only need to use force if the door is deadlocked...

You should only need to use force if the door is deadlocked...
Or if the switches are dicey...

Tell me more.......
If I lock the doors with the drivers button from inside the car it is impossible to lift the button.....press the fob though and up it comes.  I did wonder if getting the key to work might sort this, but it seems not, any idea's.....?
