Title: Collected this today.
Post by: RobG on 18 August 2011, 19:40:26
Collected a 3.2 Elite today. Starter motor just clicking, engine turns OK off the crank. Is it worth fixing or break. :question Opinions appreciated

Definitely fix .. looks in good nick and to many being broken too fast .. :(

Sadly you'll probably make more breaking it but I vote for fix :y :y I like that colour combo ;) ;)

If you do break it, bear in mind that the interior isn't a common (or popular) colour so may not shift ;) ;) ;)

Fix and sell/keep :y :y :y

If you break it, I may be interested in the wheels/tyres so fist dibs please :y

I'm with Entwood on this one.  Looks too good to break. .

Problem is .. broken it will probably add up to being worth a lot more than a clean good running example ...

A lot of very decent miggys being broken now though >:( >:( >:( >:(

Im all for breaking them, but that one imo is a seller.with that spec/year/ mileage etc. its worth a decent amount of money without the time/ effort/work/ hassle of breaking it. :y
I do like that colour. I would be tempted to offer you over £500 for that. :y ;D ;D ;D

I'm assuming the mileage is low on it from other comments so with patience and a good clean/service it would fetch £2k IMO

I agree... I got £800 for my 177k MFL saloon earlier this year, and it was starting to show it's age ;) Just use Autotrader and not here/ebay ;)
Title: Re: Collected this today.
Post by: albitz on 18 August 2011, 21:10:37
128 on a 3.2 (or any other v6) is just average mileage. Not high by any means. As LD says put it on Autotrader. I think it would go for £2k on there. It looks like a cracking motor.
The one I picked up on Sunday has only done 75,000 but its an Xplate 2.5 with cloth for some reason, and the car is nowhere near as tidy as that .................so its getting broken up. :D

It all depends on what you paid for it and whats wrong with it. Its worth a lot of money in parts and scrap metal prices are on the up ;)

Shame, I like the colour combo too. You would get 1.5 to 2.0k if it had more like 80k miles.

Only worth about a grand whole  :(

I'm sorry, but no way is that just worth £1000 if it's sorted, absolutely not. Thing is if you try and sell it here or on eBay then yes (it'd fetch more than that on eBay though), but if you were to put that on AutoTrader, I'd say you'd get £2000 easily if not a bit more. That's a very rare combo it's got there colour/interior wise, and a very nice one at that, a very appealing car that'd sell easily  :y

Really depends what you paid for it Rob and the profits against mending / resale or breaking.

theres a lot 3.2 out there for sale at the moment and not really fetching the sort of money they would have done even 6 - 12 months ago.

Personally the body and trim colour ins't my cup of tea, if its an easy and cheap fix?, for a proper resale price it would need to come with a pretty much full MOT and some Tax, more money?

Chris :-/

Its a 9? year old car, with 130k miles, with a "thirsty" V6 engine, going to struggle to shift that with petrol at £1.35 litre  :(

Really nice Omegas with reasonable miles can still fetch reasonable money.Ask Josh. ;) That car (fixed) is worth two grand all day long.If he was selling it for a grand, I would probably have it off him myself. ;)

Even still, it's worth £2000+ easily, top of the range you pay a premium and what not  ;) Trust me, that would easily get £2000, and if he sold it for £1000 as a runner, I'd take it straight off his hands and sell it the next day. You can just see the potential in that car  :y

It'd be a crime to break that. - It's worth more as a great car than you'd get by either breaking or selling!

And I like the colour. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Think about it: It's only worth peanuts if you're selling...and if you keep it long enough, the value will no doubt rise if it's in good nick! How many Carltons & Senators still exist in good condition? - I'd pay good money for a top of the range!

Unfortunately not... He'd have to spend a fair bit getting it ready for a top dollar sale an wouldn't get more than it's component parts, which are worth much more ;)

Vamps, I did say IMO ;) ;)

Sorry, I meant "as a car to keep". If I had an Elite, I wouldn't be selling / breaking it to make a couple of grand. It would be worth more than that to me...replace the Vauxhall badges with a BMW roundels and you could sell it for £5k!

The infuriating thing is that people spend multiples of this on "white goods" shopping cars. At least an Omega's a good honest RWD saloon. A dying breed.

That may be... But Rob buys them reasonably cheap and breaks them as a living ;) ;D

A tragic waste but if they're going to be broken anyway, they might as well be broken by someone who's going to assist others in keeping theirs on the road.

I'm currently looking for one myself, but I need a large car quickly and don't have the time to repair otherwise I would have made an offer for this one!  [smiley=cry.gif]

You're not seriously going to sell it are you?

If it's being sold then it's worth every penny of that :y :y

There are a lot more things on this planet for that adjective to be used rather than a metal box. :-? :-X
