Title: utdal32.dll
Post by: Markjay on 15 July 2007, 01:01:52
...if anyone got this error, then from googling it seems that this is because you are working on a laptop without parallel port (most new laptop have neither parrallel nor serial ports, just USB).

If you don't know what I'm talking about, then it is not important...

If you do know, then let me know if there is a workaround.... by PM ;)

No, its my new laptop that I am taking with me on holiday next week... just out of the box and freshly installed with Vista.... had no such problems with my two other Vista desktops.

I have XP Pro on my old laptop.... no probelms there... but as I said I believe the utdal32.dll problem is not a Vista one, but the lack of a parallel port on the new laptop.

Never tinkered with Vista but surely the OS should be able to cope with a lack of parallel port. Do you think a reinstall might cure it?

Thanks CZ, but it's not a problem with the OS.... it' a problem with one particular application who shall remain nameless  ;)

Ahh I too didn't have that problem on my XP laptop, cause I do not have that program. But if I did i would have cured it by installing on one of the pc's that does have a paralell port and remote desktopping onto it. Don't help when you're away from home though.

Hmm... me too I don't have the software that you don't have and this is why I will not try your solution, so I am not thanking you for it.

I think its serial port actually, might be wrong.

Solution is to upgrade to newer version ;)
