Thinking along the lines of...
Front.
EBC dimpled discs. Try trade club pads on them, find their crap and fit oe ::)
Rear.
EBC discs, but the rears aren't dimpled, no biggy. Pads same as front.
Because I believe EBC disc don't rust as badly, is this correct?
don't particularly rate EBC pads. Not tried them but they don't seem to do the right grade. Green too soft, red don't work cold on the motorway...?
Goodridge braided hoses all round to replace the rubber lines that must be spongy by now.
DOT 5.1 fluid(the stuff that mixes with DOT4 with no issues.)
Obviously the question is, will GM pads work on EBC discs... :-/
-
My gut reaction is that its the caliper that causes the odd wear on the inner side of the disc. Can't prove it, as GM discs are:
a) adequate, so I haven't experiemnted beyond really cheap shite discs
b) cheap ;D

Seen it(inner edge rust line) on other Marques as well...

The EBC discs I have on the MR2 don't rust anywhere near as fast as the OE discs (though there are 'better' discs out there for rusting - they usually come pre-coated with paint, though), and so far they haven't warped/exploded/killed me.
In the past I've tried Green & Red Stuff on other cars - running Yellow on the MR2 at the moment and the bite from cold is perfect and it's impossible to make them fade.. I was wary initially (given previous heart stopping experiences with Red Stuff!) but they've clearly done some major reformulations..
The Omega is much heavier, of course, but they certainly work well on the MR2 - you wouldn't know they were a 'track only' pad.

All on floating caliper setups?
Only ever seen it on my Vauxhalls (but then the Fords have been company vehicles, and all my others have been Rover)

Panda, fiesta, focus, Bmw....probably all all single pot floating caliper set ups, although didn't note it tbh. :-/
I put it down to the inboard face being more exposed to damp and splashing under the car... :-/. The tin guard doesn't extend to the bottom of the disc, so some is exposed...??? :-/

Up until my mid 20s, I was 28" and 9.5st.
I hate to say 'I told you so', but I have told the useless student several times over the years that all of a sudden the weight would go on ::)

I don't buy that - the brakes will knock off the rust long before it can pit.
The rears don't suffer the same fate.
I wonder if its related to floating caliper, esp as it ages, and probably a bit of wear on the caliper pins, and the forces exerted on them :-/

More likely I would have thought... On older FC setups you can see the caliper move slightly towards the front (in the "wrong" direction) when the brakes are applied ;)

As I could not post anything positive on your thread, I thought I would take the pish ;D
I've only ever fitted standard GM (TC not OEM) to mine, they do the job. But then again its not got enough power to really use the brakes.
