Morning all,
I have a 50ltr doughnut tank in the wheel well of my estate. I get a little over 200 miles per tank which isn't too bad I think :-/
Question is, what other size tanks are there and are they just a direct replacement or is more involved? I've seen posts on bigger tanks which need the boot floor being raised, but is it worth it?
TIA :y
-
Is that a 50l tank or you can get 50l into it?
-
It's a 50ltr tank iirc and get 45 46 ltrs in when "empty"

Not really, SWMBO would deff not agree with that. I drive to hard and fast and have no patience with idiots who have no lane control or any idea on how to drive!
Don't know what she means ::) ::) ::)

Mines a 60ltr tank and I struggle to get 200 miles from a tankful.
And I do drive like a saint. :(
In fact, after reading so many reports on here about peoples fuel consumption, Im beginning to wonder if theres something not right with my car or the LPG system. :-/

Swop your tank with me and I'll give it a go ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I've seen a Citroen that had a toroidal tank in the external spare wheel holder and another cylinder tank in the boot.
Do you need all that space in your boot?

Managed to break 240 from 63l this week... Can't see the current tank being so good after the drive down to Reading on Friday night :-[

17mpg & 18 pence per mile :o :o :o (assuming best case of fuel 69p litre)
4 pots rock! 11p a mile, when I was commuting I could crack 10p a mile :)
-
The most I've got out of 46ltr was 218 miles.
The biggest difference I've noticed with LPG is, I get the same 200 odd miles whether its round town driving or long distance. It doesn't seem to make any difference, damn well would on petrol though!
Does anyone else find that?

I love omega's but I could never have a 4 pot, it's just wrong ;D ;D ;D
-
I think, for gas, a 3.0l v6 should return iro 19-20mpg day-to-day (17ppm @ 71.9p), and around 1ppm less on a journey driven like Miss Daisy.

Around town mine drops a bit, compared to a run (not as dramtic as petrol though). But the difference between driving a big saloon properly and driving trying to get in everyone's way is negliable on LPG.

Yes, but you and I have very different driving styles ;) Plus I couldn't get more than 20k from a set of cheap, fairly hard tyres ::)

I've been close.... ....I once got 17k from a set of Michelins.... ....on the rear of a FWD car ::)

So you guys get through 5 sets of tyres in same time as me? That's a lot of money!
That's at least 1.5k :o

Interesting driving approaches by you both. One performance is almost everything, the other economy is all. Totally different needs from your tyres for both of you, yet seem to be considering the exact same tyre. :-/

Kumo's in budget, I no longer do 500 miles a week, so wear rate not an issue any more.
When I find my missing 4 pots and get 8, i'll get some decent boots 8-)

Beat 380 miles from 74L in a 90L tank :D
Funnily enough I did last week, in a 3.2 Auto.
Drove up to Coventry and back for a meeting and the Tom Tom had my ETA as 30 minutes early the whole way, so the cruise was set to 70. My time on the way back, so speed crept up a little. Did a couple of days commute on that tank too and I filled it up at 320 miles, where it took 60L. ;)

First time I've heard someone beat my miles from a V6, maybe you should pass your tips to little fatty and the cripple?
They can barely crack 20mpg!
-
I got 238 miles out of 43 ltr / 30 quid last week :y
Thats with 3 adults and a big dog in the boot
Happy days ;D

I should add that it was mostly motorway cruising and it was at a strict 70MPH. Boring driving. But not as boring as having time to kill in Coventry. ;)
In addition, averaging over 1 tank of LPG is not necessarily accurate because you don't always get a consistent fill. That said, this tank never takes more than 65 litres, and the red light had not been on that long, so I'm confident that 60L is relatively accurate.
Just shows it can be done. However, there is a penalty for doing urban driving or caning it on the motorway. Cruise at 80-85 or do any round-the-houses stuff and the tank would have been done in 270-280.

Actually, if you refer back to my Italy trip I did 380 miles with cruise set at 85-110mph with occasional bursts of more and only got about 70l in ;) But it was all motorway ::)

In the last 7 weeks I have done1588 miles.Used 398 litres of LPG costing £310 - which I think is around 19.5 p per mile.
I have also used £30 of petrol, which brings the figure to 21.4 p per mile.
Had I been running on petrol - assuming a true mpg of 23, I would have spent approx. another £80.So petrol would work out at around 26.5p per mile.
So by my calculations Im saving approx.7p per mile. :-/
Its too late for my brain (?) to work out what that is as a percentage(around 26 ?), or what the eqiuvalent mpg is on LPG. ::)

Which sounds wrong... Think we need to have a look at your Albs
-
Albs - when do you fill yours? I have found if I fill mine when its only half empty, economy is appalling. If I wait until I've done 250m, its better. I wouldn't have thought you lose much during filling, but clearly, IME, you do...

Yeah but you see my point? Your paying for grip you don't need... Although the tyre that spring to mind for you ain't cheap....

But I reckon tunnie could get 25k from a set of ZZ3s, because he wouldn't overdrive them, and he certainly wouldn't mind the lack of grip. In fact, I reckon he could get decent mileage out of any tyre :-/
As he can get KU31 in his size, they are cheap, and it matters not to tunnie than they give little feedback.....

He could probably make primacy last the life of the car from new, and given they where oe fitment, I believe, means he may never have needed tyres at all. Ever! ;D

Kumo's came out at around same price as Falkens, around £80 a corner i think in the size I need.
80 to 90% of my miles are still motorway, so a nice quite tyre like Falkens suit me. But i've also had these for a couple of years now, so time for a change :)
