Aaeye. We can sort that. Although it's alot easier without a crowd watching. Not being funny but really need to be left get on with it, distractions best avoided when working on gas installations. For obvious reasons. :y

I have quite alot of parts, so if anyone needs something bringing please PM me. :y

I'll buy some and bring them along anyway, if they can't be fitted, not the end of the world.

Can't quote for some reason :-/
1.That reminds me Chris, I owe you a hack saw blade iirc.
2.Did my bushes at the Lakes. Not the most comfortable experience, but as long as not raining should be easy enough. :y

;D Sure I won't have done it any favours though... ::)

Need to get rear donut bushes replaced. Is this a big job and can it be done at Newent? Wishbone bushes also need doing but I'll get those done at my garage as they have the equipment to do the wheel alignment/geometry that'll need doing afterwards.

If you like using your cam lock kit you can do your oil seal when ever ;) ;)You'll need your big f*uk off breaker bar to undo/tighten the crank shaft bolt. :y

Rear donuts ...........
Mr Gixer's very kindly offered his services already! :y :y :y :y :y

Fortunately for me, I have a totally reliable Fiat, so it doesnt need fixing ::) :P

Thanks :y :y
Undecided yet as to whether I'm going to try flushing mine or just replace :-/
Unfortunately, being a F/L, it also involves splitting the A/C pipework so will also depend on the weather ;)
Looks like the car will be getting much less use from about 6-8 weeks time so I might leave it until then ;) It only gets hot when under very heavy load for a prolonged period :-X ::) But it's definitely the rad... Managed to get my hand in the other day and the bottom of it is cool when the top isn't

...
Unfortunately, being a F/L, it also involves splitting the A/C pipework so ....
How does being a facelift make it neccessary to remove any a/c pipework :-?. Prefacelift & facelift cars differ very slightly mecahnically & I can't imagine anything being different enough to warrent your a/c being split.
It's a tight squeeze removing a rad - I've done it twice on my car - but quite straight forward. :y :y :y

only diffrents is 3.2 and 2.6 got external rad for gearbox.
apart that its like Andy say
-
Fairly sure, as are a couple of other members, that the pipework is slightly different on the F/L and needs moving to get the rad out :-/

last year I was replace rad on my 3.2 02 plate
and there was no A/C pipes on way, well I not saw any

Pish ;D
It's not easy but you can swap out the aircon condensor with out removing the rad.
Swapping the rad out you only need to remove the air filter housing and battery(for space, but not essential), the bagpipes and the main fan assembley. If it take more than an hour plus tea, then you're not trying. :y
Will be alot easier to remove on yours because the slam panel shouldn't be touching the throttle body ::).
If I make it over to Newent, will gladly lend a hand. If not you could swing by here on the way over :y.

OK, I stand corrected then :y :y Unfortunately money is a little on the tight side at the moment :( Got to wait and find out how long it's going to take the company to sort my severance (and until then I'm not getting paid) so Newent and Rad are both still up in the air. Hoping to make the meet, although I'll be scrounging (breakfast) cooking facilities off people as we'll be in a borrowed tent.
Changing the rad is something that doesn't particularly bother me... I have quite a bit of mobility back and am managing the remaining pain well with painkillers but I'll gladly accept offers of help :y Just got to source one now ::)

Much as that's a very kind offer, you're no where near the route from mine to Newent... In fact, totally the wrong way ::) ::) And you're a Taxi driver :-X :-X :o :o :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

There appears to be 2 common layouts for the pipes to the condensor on Omegas, and one type makes it impossible, which I've only ever seen on facelifts.
Not sure if its related to gearbox, as some of the facelift autos have the oil cooler pipes going over the top of the rad.
LD - remove the black plastics above rad, it'll be obvious if A/C and/or autobox oil line needs to be broken.

pop the plastics off, see if the AC goes over as well, else we will be guessing forever ;)

there no A/C pipes go over the rad. :y :y

As ever more than happy to be corrected :y
Much as that's a very kind offer, you're no where near the route from mine to Newent... In fact, totally the wrong way And you're a Taxi driver
I seem to recall a mention of relatives in Brighton ::) and was thinking that Suffolk to Brighton, Brighton to Newent via Horsham was not that big a leap :y

I do have relatives in Brighton but it's at least an extra 100 miles to go via there ;)
It's only about 230 miles from home to Newent going the more direct route :y

Just to add to this, is it worth noting any specific tools or equipment that may be needed :question

would like some help advice on my knocking noise on start up and turn off. I think we have definatley established its from the gearbox end of things. Starter motor replaced.
i get a couple of knocks on start up and sometimes the odd one when i trurn the engine off, Daz just replaced belts etc and marked pully wheeels turned engine by hand and the knock appeared always at the same point
Apart fromm that car / engine runs very smooth no knoks vibrations leakes etc plenty of pull, drives without fault
trying desperatley to get to Newent and get some advice will make sure beers and largers are in boot to ensure throats remain lubricated to help speach

thanks
paul

I'd be looking at starter/flywheel issues... Possibly a broken tooth :-/ :-/
-
I'd be looking at starter/flywheel issues... Possibly a broken tooth :-/ :-/
Or something jammed in between teeth... :-/
-
Starter wouldn't knock on shutdown, though. :-/
I wonder if the torque converter has worked loose from the driveplate, or perhaps the drive from TC to gearbox oil pump has a bit of slack in it?
Thrust washer? :-/
Or bellhousing bolts loose?
Foreign object in bell housing?
Either way, a few ears under it will soon find something. :y
-
definatley not starter Daz changed it and when it was off being cranked by hand it still knocked, but thanks for the advice so far hope. to be there friday and saturday.
Also am i reading the shop area correctly can oof supply and programme keys and will they be able to do this on the saturday as i need a spare the cars a 52 plate

Yes, there'll be a couple of Tech 2s there, no doubt. Remember your car pass if you need keys programmed, though. :y

If I buy some Powerflex Bushes, is it possible to fit them at Newent?
If somebody has a powered chop saw type thing of some sort?
Either cordless, electric or air powered?
I'll buy some and bring them along anyway, if they can't be fitted, not the end of the world.
Is this a yes or a no no?
-
I have a jigsaw that'll do the job but it will need mains (I have upto 100m of cable but I cant remember if that'll be enough.
Edit: and I am bringing the ramps so that we can torque it up with wheels on the ground :y
-
I have a leather interior to fit to mine. Never done one before, is it difficult and will it get in the way of LD et al working on my LPG loom?
-
Its easy. A couple of hours work. If he is doing wiring inside the cabin at the same time then I suppose it would yes.

No need if they are for pollys. Don't have to cock about with all that. Although a bit more secure than stands.

We'll have to take a view on that... Might arrange to do it when there are fewer people about ;)
Nothing against people seeing it done but, from experience, it can be easier to do with fewer people around :y Plus, as you know, I need a favour at some point :-X ::)

dont think this really fits in parts (sorry i cant post in there yet) as this is free to anyone who wants it at Newent.
I got an estate with towbar etc no tow ball thats missing but if anyone wants all the metalwork etc that goes with it inc elec socket they only have to take it off the car and its thiers as long as we can plug holes and make safe wiring etc i do not need it and will only remove it and throw it at some point

Happy to assist and direct AB but we may run out if time, two pairs of donuts are on the list already. Which is ok if all goes well, but if the subframe moves on either of those that can turn into a full days work if we're not carefull.
Plus in the interests of evening entertainment and not becoming the next human buckaroo by falling asleep in my beer... Two in a day is enough frankly. Alot of us where pooped after last years hefty work load.
We'll have to keep an open mind on the donuts and see how we go. Hope thats ok? :y
-
Would like to come down as a day tripper on Saturday and will bring tools and a good lot of parts left over from the 2.6 elite. I would take you up on the tow bar if it's still open to offers. Don't have any big jobs to do as the wish bones are not that bad at the moment but will need doing by next summer but can do them at home. A check of the gearbox with Tech2 would be nice and full system check. other than that can help anyone out with there jobs. :y
