Had to put the spare on tonight and it is smaller, ie 205 and only 15 inches as opposed to 225 and 16 inches....I know that size does not matter but thought I had better check :D
Now I guess this is fine as it is the spare that came with the car, never been used, any speed / handling issues??
It will only be a couple of days, till I get my puncture sorted, and I do not fly about.... ::) ::)

Speed is no faster than 50mph :y

Is yours a prefacelift then :o

No, facelift....
Our pre facelift estate has a full size spare... ::) ::)

I thought all facelifts came with 15" 195s, which invariably have the 80kph sticker on?
Prefacelifts tend to come with 205s, no speed sticker. Although its wise, due to narrower tyre, to keep to the 80kph limit. Also, from memory, the spares are T rated?

C'mon Mike! Keep up, they all have a smaller spare in the boot, just try getting your 'full size' tyre in the spare wheel well. ;)
(applicable to saloons)

On the odd occasion i've had to use the "space saver 15" jobbie", never found any handling issues under normal driving conditions and have to admit didn't stick to 50mph recommendation (seem to remember cruising at around 80mph) without any obvious adverse effects.

Keep up you say, I made Master Vamps empty the boot to get at the spare, before I remembered it is at the side, to used to estates :D :D :D
I may be wrong on the size, it does have yellow and red stickers on, which I have not read.... ::) ::)
I was so relieved to get it changed, we had a problem with on of the wheel nuts.... >:(

Not sure now if the Senator's spare was the same size as the road wheels ...... too long ago since I owned one, just remember it was a steel & not an alloy.
I think I've read somewhere that the Omega's floor pan was based on that of the previous Carlton's hence the narrow stowage space - but that might be bull$hit :-/ :-/ :-/

Our mig proudly sports 195s on all its steel 15" roadwheels and spare. :y ;D

I hope they're not all out of the boots of scrapped/broken cars. :-/ Pretty sure my spare was new when the car was way back in 1999 :-?
-
AFAIK factory fit wheels. We are talking the lowest spec of Omega that exists here.
My profile lies slightly, it's actually MY 1995 if that make a difference.

I just go off the fact it's been sheltered from the sun the vast majority of its life ........... it still looks OK :y

Don't knock it, out first, most reliable and longest lasting Omega was a 1995 2.0L Select Estate, lovely car, though I knew no better in 2000 when I bought it... :y

Same here. The only time I noticed a difference was a little bit of understeer when turning right (Spare was on nsf) when I was driving spiritedly on a windy road. ;D

never had a problem with mine, in fact it's been on the back of the car when towing - came out to a flat tyre as we were about to go away for the week end & I wasn't prepared to swap tyres about so the spare was at the front. ;)

I suffered a braking problem in wet with 205 tyre on elite, teaching some retard in a MINI a lesson in lane discipline.
Not used car since ::)
-
I've used the space saver wheel a couple of times on mine on both front and rear and didn't have any handling issues whatsoever. I'm not sure, but I think the 50mph limit is probably more advisory - I drove between 60 - 70mph with mine on.

No I wasn't knocking it, just stating a fact, to help to explain the tyre/wheel sizes.
I actually think it's an excellent Omega, mainly 'cos there's so much less to go wrong with it than some of the more 'fully featured' variants.
Doubt it's gonna make its 16th birthday though. We're looking at a Skoda... ;D

Sad thing is, the Mini driver probably wouldn't even understand the 'message'! ;)
Bit like the idiot last week in a Combo van. Doing 60mph in the outside lane (dual carriage way). Nobody else around! Tried flashing - no joy. Tried the 'Ramming up his arse' - No Joy... so had no other option than to undertake... idiot! This just winds me up, and resulted in me using the ‘loud’ pedal a bit more than I normally would (at least it dusted the cobwebs off ::))
I have often wondered about printing a big sign to stick to the rear blind. Then when there’s an idiot in the wrong lane, pull in front of them, brake and raise the blind! ;D
