Title: Abandoned lease scooter.
Post by: Vamps on 16 September 2011, 15:17:34
We have on our drive a Honda 125 scooter. Middle Vamps has been hiring this through a 'Ride to Work' scheme for many months.

He was informed that the scheme was to close on 1st September but was unable to contact the person responsible to arrange it's return.

He has now bought a 125 motorbike for work.... :y

I asked him today what was happening with the scooter and he has no idea, he is unable to contact anyone and the chap who ran the scheme lost his Job with the scheme closing......Apparently all the other scooters have been sold off as a job lot

I do not know who oversaw the scheme, council or other organisation???

Just checked MID and it is still showing as insured...

What on earth do I do with it?
Keep it and get a new log book, it is on my property, how long is it before it is considered abandoned?
How can I find who the registered keeper is, I guess I can not just ring up the DVLA and I do not intend to spend to much time on finding out, may just ring the council and ask them to collect as an abandoned vehicle....

Any thoughts please.... :)

The DVLA will tell you who the registered keeper is. I think it will cost a fiver. :y

... and, meanwhile, make sure you're billing the council for storage. ;)

I have come across this before, years ago I sold a car, seemed was still in my name and I was contacted by a garage after 366 days, seems they had had it that long, no one had paid for the recovery and apparently after that time they could claim the car? I had no argument and wrote to them to say so.... :)

is it a CG 125?? do a dvla disclosure and then send a letter to the owner letting them know its their and how much your charging perday for secure storage if you wish to persue that! ::)
