Title: OOF Cards.
Post by: amigov6 on 11 July 2007, 22:21:58
I'd like to get some cards made up to post on peoples Migs. There's a few local to me and travelling every day in my job i see plenty more. Is it ok to do this, and if so what should/should'nt i put on the cards?
Do'nt wanna get myself in "Barney Rubble" with Adins.  [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

There was a central leaflet competition a short while ago - I am not sure what the outcome of this was though.  It could well be that there is a standard leaflet already available..................

PM Mike Dundee Guy, his were the ones seen on windscreens at the Lakes meet - I'm sure he'll share until we have an "official" version :y

Yes, we run a competition, but the response wasn't brilliant.  The ones we did get were either graphic designs (some quite good imho), some just text (too plain). MikeDundee's filled a middle ground, though perhaps the text needs modifying (not sure what text to put on though).

If you do stick flyers on windscreens, please, please, please use common sense, and utterly ensure no damage to car can occur (eg, using inkjet to print - some inks run if they get wet - eg rain, or lazy driver using wipers and washers to move leaflet).

When I was away in Devon, I saw a nice Estate parked up with Recaro seats. I wrote "omegaowners.com" on a bit of card in biro, and very gently popped it in the gap by his drivers door.

Some uniform cards to give out would be great.

I just knocked up an OOF card. It looks better on the card when printed. What does everyone think? They can be printed in sets of 10 and could be laminated for safety.

What about a sticker to put in the car I am a member of the Pajero Owners Club UK (POCUK)  this club have a yellow diamond that is commonly displayed in the front windscreen, this not only promotes the club site but also shows membership of the club. There is a small fee to purchase the sticker to cover the costs. There is also a section in the forum to post sightings of other members (was it you) where you can say you saw a fellow member while out and about. it would also prevent the need to put anything on other peoples cars if any one is interested they can just take down details and check the site out,
Just a Suggestion for you to consider

no thoughts on using pictures of our own cars?? the library pictures like the website header pic only has facelift elites, I think a flavour of actual member cars might be good!

Yes they are flyer size A5 four out of an A4 sheet of paper, this one has since got a clearer OOF picture at the top so is a lot sharper than showing in the pic below.

I prefer mikedundees flyers for style and content, but prefer mine for size and cost effectiveness.  :-? Why don't people just do their own if they want to advertise the forum? Everyone who wants to could post a pic for approval from admin and if they are approved they can go ahead and use them. That way you could also add your username which could maybe lead to a referral system giving bonuses to current members.

Tend to agree with you the flyer fits in your back pocket or shirt pocket, but the business card type would be easier to carry around with you, and yes the cost element, but I can knock these ones out quite easily and then laminate them, the pain bit is having to cut them as they come out on A4. :-/ :y

If you're laminating, why not put useful info on back, so that drivers keep them, rather than through them away.  Tyre pressures would be a good example that has been mentioned.

?

Yeah, was thinking the back of them are a bit wasted, only got nine pouches left, so printed 41 so far and that has taken half of one of the ink cartridges, so I will be keeping a printed sample to print off on the colour copier at my mates place :y.......and try and find cheaper A6 laminate pouches as those ones I bought work at at 16p a shot.  Anything else apart from tiyre pressures?

I have just amended the back of the flyer and managed to fit the cambelt change in of; in, Put in red font, cannot fit anymore in, unless you want to have alternative ones e.g., tyre pressures and cambelt, and one with general maintenance schedule?

Could you shrink tyre pressure bits by just giving normal and loaded rates, then a single line at bottom saying what loaded means?  You are missing the 235/45 pressures as well ;)

I took the details from the book of lies, which does'nt have 235/45 pressures listed, can you send me what the pressures are and I will adjust as suggested :y

Forget the post above, I have just amended all / most of the tryes pressures and included 235/45 along with the cambelt info; The book of lies bears no resemblance as to what is listed in the Vx maintenance book >:(

think just stick with the figures in the Vx owners maintenance manual then, avoid any untoward critiscism?

TBH i dont think i would bother with tyre pressures on the back of the card......just put note about cambelt change......and making clear a full kit should be.....and also mention good time to change the water pump.

Tho what i would do is put a page on the technical or maintenance section listing all the tyre pressures.....and then putting on the back of the card....summat like this...

'Do you know your correct tyre pressures?.....check this link www.omegaowners.com/blah to find out'

That way it should be possible to get both messages on the back......and also gets em the site to find out  :y

I think its more a case of when they see the back of the card they will keep the card to reference tyre pressures, rather than potentially just throw it away, some times people just think when they see the word Free that there must be a catch, there by putting the info on the back they already have it for free, just my view, the good thing is the flyer can always be altered/updated. But yes you do have a point.

Well have run off a few hundred of these cards this morning :y

This was one of the first amended versions excuse the cutting, as the other since then are perfect cuts :y

To cut down on costs, copied them this morning then laminated, and spliced them on a cutter thingy ::)
