Well, just went and gave mine a wipe over with a damp cloth as i'd had my oily hands all over it yesterday when messing with engine, and most of the black shiny stuff has come off the leather and now the wheel is all rubbery looking and sticky :o
-
Strange, I wipe mine over with a damp leather every week.

Ask Chopsdad. He's bound to have some magic potion to make it look newer than new :y :y

He's probably got it sprayed silver....... ;D ;D

Do you use leather treatment or feeder or what ever its called AA? I dont wanna use anything thats gonna turn my hands black when I get my sweaty hands on the wheel, or even worse cause my hands to slip off while cornering ;D

Hmm mind you the steering wheel is 195k miles old ;D suppose an upgrade to one with radio controls wouldnt be a bad thing.
Funny thing is though to look on the bright side, my headlamp washers get nicked, then im left with sticky fingers from a grubby steering wheel ;D ;D ;D ;D Such is life eh?

Actually I condition it occassionally with the same leather wipes I use on my sofa - from Wilko's. But mostly I do the same as AA and just use a damp cloth. Don't use polish - or you'll crash :y
-
Use Dettol?

I think the government should get off the fence now and have the guts to BAN steering wheels in public places.
That'd solve the emissions question. ::)

This won't surprise the people here that know me, but I have a leather treatment kit riding around in the boot with the firm intention of cleaning my steering wheel one of these years . . . ::)
So I guess my answer to how would be 'not yet' :P

:y sounds good, the mrs wants to go into wilko's for some paint, aparrently its on offer, so i'll tell her to grab me a pack

What the h3ll have you cleaned it with.... Urgh! Soggy Goat Skin.... ;D
-
Waters not good as it can dry the leather out.....its interesting to note that the shinest and best kept leather steering wheels are those on cars driven by women....I suspect its due to the hand cream feeding the leather.
So AA's shouldn't need doing! ::)

Actually, I'd be hesitant to use regular ones. I think they have special ones for leather?

Tried some leather cleaner/restorer wipes but to no avail, time for a new wheel :y

Make sure to paint it silver though ;D ;D

Wonder if chopsdad has a spare wheel.... wouldnt have to paint it then ;D
