Title: My omega's replacement
Post by: Danny on 08 August 2008, 20:34:50
It'll never be the elite, never be as comfy, never be as fast, never be as safe, but most importantly given my circumstances now... never be as costly!! half the insurance costs, even less servicing costs (chain driven 1.2)

i know, chavvy looking, but its costing me about £13 a week to run on fuel, i'm getting 400 miles to £45, easy to park, and perfect for the little journeys i do as a postman:

love it or hate it ;D

Looks wise - Hummmmm  ::)

You say its £45 to 400 miles? With my commute i get 350 miles to £65, so that is quite a saving.

However at the end of the day, its a corsa!!!!  :D

Omega's are soooo comfy! Can see why your switching, but if it was a choice between a mrs and a Omega.....

Omega every time!  ;D

The 1.2 in the Corsa is a great engine, really suits the car and for town driving mixed with some dual carriageway driving they are good.

One of my ex's had one and I was surprised just how well they accelerate (manual box) and how much room there is inside.

Looks great in black!  :y

Nice car Danny , sensible too.
Me thinks we'll all be driving something like it within 5 years.
If I had a short city commute I'd have one ,
( I'd still keep my Omega though....'cause it's worthless over here.)
Good luck with it. :y

Driving carefully I get similar running costs to that with my Omega

Sensible choice if times are hard but I'd need one for each foot :)

Tell me about it, i learnt in a Corsa, i am 6ft4.

Not a nice experiance driving a Corsa for me... BSM had the budget ones, so no column adjustment, i was forever bashing my knee's  :(

You are right Nick;  I love Corsa's, especially 1.4's in black!

They are great to drive, really nippy around town and can be made to zoom on motorways, although you have to work the gears of course.  I have always found them (one son and my daughter owned a Corsa each; in fact my son still does!) easy to work on with parts relatively cheap. :y :y

Your one in particular Danny seems a great economical buy and if I remember correctly that are rated just 2 on the insurance scales! :y :y

Nice enough car in its own right matey, just a little bit of a chavvy image problem and a step down from the old omega.

I think you will be making big savings with it though so well done bud.

thats exactly my plan, i had a corsa for my first car, and i loved it back then, but its purely for the financial reasons, the car's tidy and for a 51 plate, its just touched 51,000 miles this week and its in absolutely fanTAStic condition so more importantly i doubt i'll ever have to search online for "help me" solutions!

in comparison to any other car i could have gone for, i really dont like the other contenders... clit, punto, 106, pretty much any small car, not to mention i have my VX trade card too :y

being a postman and saving very hard for a house, not really much option

the alloys are brand new and on brand new toyo proxes for a stupidly low price, i couldnt say no

Thats fair enough mate but it is a big step downwards though isnt it?
