thanks for the positive feedback. its a great bit of kit, and considering it retails at 300 quid or thereabouts im pretty pleased with my argos clearance buy at 20 quid. i've been using one of those cassette adapters but i find that when the tape head in the head unit gets hot it loses signal in one channel so you end up with a more-or-less mono signal.

im getting a little interference on this drive and play at the moment, but going to try and use a number of different radio station frequencies as i read that sometimes fighting for frequency with a local station can cause problems despite the fact that its not 'transmitting' a signal in the same way an itrip does; this is supposed to be a direct signal in.

overall though, can't really complain. 20 quid well spent. the power is fed from the existing hands free installation, split the feed using scotchlocks (thanks to cbs2 for advice on that). needs to be attached to a source that is 'always on' though, so interior lights are a bad idea!!

the image above doesnt really show, but the main screen is backlit and the menu system is pretty comprehensive. displays whats on your ipod basically, with the addition of the drive and play settings, and without the artwork.

thanks for the positive feedback all, here's a shot of how she looks under the hood at the moment.

got a replacement radiator protector cover thing at the front, and it has the original warning stickers on it (my old one was sticker free) and the gap you see near the battery sticks out like a sore thumb to me so got an irmscher badge going on that soon enough hehehe

Nice Job Mate.   :y :y

thanks! i definitely think the clear side repeaters have a big impact for such a small change; check the before and after pics below. im not a huge fan of smoked repeaters, but the clear ones look soooo nice:

I don't get the whole orange side repeater issue at-all  :-/

Its a light on the side of the car, i don't see the point in replacing them with 'smoked' ones.

I never notice mine walking up to it.

the way i see it is this. if you look at that pic of the car, the colour pallette is green, silver, black and white. that's it. the orange really stands out like a sore thumb when you look at the before and after pics.

i know its only a light, and if you're talking about function then it makes absolutely no difference, but if you're talking aesthetics then i think for a small change it has quite an impact. how intrusive the orange is will be dependent on the colour of your car maybe?

i am not a fan of the smoked repeaters either, but the clear ones match the front indicators. there is no other evidence of orange on the car.

i will be looking to replace the ones on the cav shortly for the same reason. small change, big difference!
