Title: Engine Gurus....your thoughts.....
Post by: Markie on 19 July 2007, 18:02:05
Theres an r reg rover 214 up here for around £150. Knocking from engine.

Obviously bottom end issues rather than the usual HGF issues....

Im thinking of going for it....well come on at that money...

So to fix it i would need a new engine perhaps, or at least the bottome end...

Guess what i have ( known good) at the back of my garage on a  pallet.....

Yep exact same bottom end / and a gearbox for the very same car...

Thoughts? Fix it - gain the knowledge and make a few quid?

Or break it and make even more?

 :-/

I agree with James ;) Breaking a car is agro and takes a fair while, so would you really make that much more?????

probably - usually clear £1000 from a break - i kid you not !!

Just thinking about the aggro of engine removal splitting top and bottom and from box and mating it all back up.

But it seems to good an opportunity to learn when i have a donor in the workshop

time will tell as i am also "negotiating" on a rover 75 which will definatley be a fix  :-X

cheers guys...

In terms of Omega's - V6's are more profitable, what with the 3.0 cams, cruise etc.

But yes, lets rip that forsaken car into lots of little bits  [smiley=evil.gif]

Hmmmm, heater resistor - would that be same as Rover 25 one?  Her 1 speed doesn't work, likely to be resistor?  How much?

classic case....heater not going on all speeds the resistors broken.....you know i`d fire it off to you in a jiffy if i had it....but its sold in the last few days....all of the stuff i listed above sold in the last few days....

the deal for the Rover i started this thread concerning is on ice - but if it goes through you can have the rsistor out it  :y
