You seriously need a set of OFF show plates for your Miggy. :y
The pics are brill, but the blanked out plate spoils it. :-/

He should post them again with the plates showing. Nothing will happen.
It's pointless, unless you drive to work with them blanked too!
-
I have posted this before, but please feel free to let me know if you oculd make use of the original full sized version.

I disagree, I think it definatly reduces the risk to some extent and they look better the the standard numberplate. :y
-
Whether they look better or not is a matter of opinion. I think whited out plates or 'shopped plates can ruin a well composed photo.
But risk wise, unless you've taken the photos outside your house, with your house number/street name in full view, posting photos of your car with the plates on show whilst parked in a random field/country lane runs as little risk as driving through a town centre. More people will be able to see it in town!
The DVLA gives the general public the engine size and dates of liability, but only coppers can run your plate and get name/address details. Or a corrupt DVLA clerk, but again, chances are too remote to consider.

I am not worried about people getting information like my address etc from my plate. Like you say anyone can my plates as I drive around. It is car cloning that I think the plates help with, yes I know criminals can get my plates as I drive around but the crims are getting clever, say they steal a silver mig to do a job in, whats easier? driving around looking for one that looks idential? no, they go online and look at places like this were people post images of their car. much easier. I am not saying showplates will stop it just help reduce the risk, and they do look better in the process so why not :D

having been a victim of identity theft once already i'm rather cautious when it comes to dishing out info on the 'net that can be duplicated and used with ease. there have been numerous accounts of reg plate theft resulting in people getting lots of speeding tickets and insurance queries through their door when it's someone else 'ímpersonating' them on the roads, so i'm quite happy to leave my reg details off for now! hehe! it's amazing what detail you can get about a person from just the smallest amount of info... :o

i do tend to agree with you.i have been lucky no one has copied mine .i hope they never do.i will have to put some oof plates on when taking any pics :y
