Title: Lowered the CATERA w/ GTO Springs
Post by: CateraMV6 on 06 September 2009, 19:39:41
Here are some of the pictures.

I swapped the front springs out of a new Pontaic GTO with the 6.0L LS2 Engine...

Springs were new... drop was 1" Front

Now the front is 26" and the rear is 26.5"
Before it was 27" front and 26.5" rear....

I have not swapped the rear springs because the rear is quite low as it is especially with some people in the car.

Yeah no kidding on the most phtographed thing, I do take a lot of pictures and I have nearly filled my photobucket account, around 4gb of pics...

On another note... I swapped out the 2 rear springs but the car hardly dropped, so its a bit lower in the front still...
I did however swap out my other wheels and I will take some more pictures tomorrow but for now here is what it looked like in the garage tonight.  The front does not look as low with the 18" Wheels, and I cant quite figure out why.

BTW Tonight I hit 134,000mi on the clock and its running as strong as ever, not showing signs of rust either...

Ahhh the Taurus!?  Well I got that thing for 250$ and to this day my parents have been using it, and they hardly spent 500$ in maintenance and its worth around 1500$... so its one of those cars that we just drive around not giving much thought if its dirty or if it looks odd, and believe me its one of the worst looking cars that ford ever made..

I always thought that particular shap (3rd generation) was OK, yes Ford did go a bit oval crazy, but it did make the car different. I owned a 4th generation one in the US, very nice to drive and the latest generation looks good. I beleive the Taurus has been going from the 80's.

A few more shots with my 18s on... and after alignment....

The car really settled now, front sitting at 26" rear at around 1/4" higher... has a mean look and it certainly rides stiffer and its way more responsive and live when  you throw some twisty roads at it....

looks great! :)

Thanks Mate... its surely taken me a lot of work to get it to this point,  I think in the future I may upgrade to some Brembo Brakes and perhaps tint the windows.

New headlights are in the making as well...  with R8 Lighting, and some new BiXenon equipment.
