Title: Homemade In-Car Camera Mount...
Post by: CateraMV6 on 20 October 2009, 14:03:20
This was something I wanted to do for some time and finally I got around to finishing it off...

Cost me around 13$ and it works...

Materials: (HOME DEPOT)
10$ 3ft Square Alum Extrusion 3/4" thick
2$  2 U clamps.
1$  1 1/4-20 bolt for the camera.

Cut a piece of Alum around 20"
Marked the head restraint distance between the posts (21cm)
Drilled 4 Holes to provide placement for the U bolts.
Drilled 1 hole at the other end (Center of car) for the camera mount.
Went to the car...
Installed the U clamps around the head restraint frame...
Installed the bolt and the camera...
DONE
Took me around 15min.

STAGE I

1. Basic Mount
2. X Axis Adjustability

Here are a few pictures of what I used.

Here is a short video.
NOt sure what clunks but it may be contact between the camera and the mount. I need to insulate the 2.

It's in a good position, and very stable.  Personally I think you already have too many gadgets in the car! :-)

I only attach some of them when i need to take measurements...

The Gtech comes down and the only things left are the Radar, GPS and ScanGauge.

The camera mount is removable as well, also I tend to take pics when most of my gadgets are up there...  ::)

Not quite a Tampon but looks almost like one, its one of those stylus pens for the GPS, it hangs from the mirror so I don't loose it...

I used to have girlfriends G-string hanging from the mirror but one day she needed something to hold her hair with and she took it off... I was bummed and impressed at the same time cuz I have never seen a Gstring used as a hair tie....

As far as the movie goes, I think if I flip the camera around so it shoots towards the rear window and I place a mirror there, the scene will be like that of a UK omega...

I am visiting family in La Crosse WI.  Beer, deer hunting, beer, lots of food, beer, and hopefully some snow :y

Cant wait! :y
