Post by: Golfbuddy on 22 July 2007, 10:25:42
Have you seen the news? Severn Trent Water are now saying that there will be no drinking water in Gloucester, Cheltenham and Tewkesbury by the end of today.  :'(

Hope all of you guys in that area are OK.

The 2 days that water is expected to be out for, with care, most should be able to get by with the water in the tank in loft.  Probably not the best to drink, but as its an emergency...   ...problem is for those without tanks in loft.

Your loft tank, where fitted, is the header tank for your hot water. Your drinking water is direct from the main.

My brother's 2 shops are looking dicey - when I was there yesterday fixing his tills, the Police advised us to get out quick.  OK, not life threatening, but still a worrying time for him :(

It was only last week when SWMBO & I were in Evesham on our way back from Cornwall. It was wet then but the amount of water in the town now is unbelievable. It'd make you want to sit down & cry to see your homes & buisnesses waiste deep in water. :(

Just checked the IP CCTV stuff in my brother's shops in Witney (only the small Windrush, so not hitting news like the big towns on Avon and Severn), looks dry to me, so thats a relief to us.  Hopefully, many others will be as lucky.  I know in Witney, many people had to sleep in the leisure centre and a meeting hall....

And for our members in Oxford, I hear they are expecting lots of flooding there this afternoon, as the Thames swells.

I'd start filling the bath - should give you enough water to get by for a good few days.  You can always go for a swim outside if your desperate :y

Yes, I know, use another tap in house. OK, slightly stale, but in emergency...

If people start running baths/showers/flushing toilet, that water will run out quickly.  Its time to be less selfish for a couple of days.

Hmm, may need lots of filtering first!  Pouring through a teatowel will get the big bits out  :P

I suspect shops have sold out of bottled water now.
