Thanks M. It was mine. I clocked you as I came through the entrance gate behind you. Yours is a tidy machine as well mate. Twin tailpipes on your 2.6 if I remember correctly. I am in ABS and spoke to a couple of guys there. Probably their last year at Billing as Hoseasons don't want them there any more. Will have to find a new venue, possibly Peterborough.
Mine is a 2003 52 plate Elite with Cat Back Jetex exhaust as you saw.
Using plenty of aftersun today though. Well hot wasn't it. ;D ;D :y :y

Sure was mate, and your Elite was as close to mint as I have ever seen an Omega, very nice and like the painted calipers too.....
Sad to hear Hoseasons arent having VBOA back, Billing is a lovely place for a meet, we even spent 4 nights in a mobile home there a couple of years ago and its easy to forget you are only in Northampton !!
Yep, mine has twin pipes, and noticed your Jetex system, very nice !!!
Lovely day out

Finally did get to see the blue Carlton in the flesh, although unfortunately I found the Omega / Carlton / Senator enclosure too late to be truly enthusiastic as I was kernackered.
It certainly polishes up well for photos, although I would still love to have a photoshoot with it sans the rear spoiler.

I loved these cars
Sadly when I went to buy a so called 240bhp tuned one I was so disapointed.
Same roads on a test drive I managed an extra 35mph and totally outhandled the HS in my sylvia turbo, had the HS have been properly sorted I shouldnt have got anywhere near it's persormance or handling.
-
The HS pics have brought a nostalgic tear to my eye. :'( ::) :y

although I would still love to have a photoshoot with it sans the rear spoiler.
It wouldn't be what it is with a run-of-the-mill Lotus rear spoiler now, would it?
My car, the Evo table stays.
At least for this year.

That's a bit OTT, I think - more like 135 - 140BHP
*EDIT* Unless it was a very late Group Four competition engine, which would mean uprated clutch, diff and brakes to go with it, like this baby: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAUXHALL-CHEVETTE-HS-2-3-WORKS-REPLICA-MSA-LOG-1977-/110556889471?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item19bdb4417f#ht_1558wt_930

Of course, it's what the owner wants. The paint job was fantastic.
-
Carltons have never done anything for me being honest but Pete's does the trick :y
-
Thanks guys :y
In truth, no polish or wax after a quick wash in the morning. :-[
As it's been 5 years since it was built, there's now some chips and scratches, so they're gonna get sorted this winter (that's the plan, anyhow) along with retro-fitted ABS and maybe Senator air to go with the dash, depending on how hard that is to do!
During the refresh, there will be a new boot with Senator and Lotus spoilers (idea nicked from the white & stickered DTM rep and the purple LC rep parked next to mine later in the day).
The Evo spoiler will stay in the current boot lid for when SWMBO wants to drive it, and the new one when I wanna go.
Also, it might have different paint on the wheels yet...........

240bhp would have been unlikely, thats what the works rally cars were producing. 170-180 was easily acheivable though.
Dump the Stromberg carbs/ cast iron ex. manifold/ points ignition. Replace with twin 48 dellortos/ blydenstein tubular steel manifold/ lumenition ignition. Went like excrement off a highly polished digging implement then. :y :D
