Seems like a day of new MV6 ownership today!

Looks like a nice clean example mate, and the new grill looks the business (but then I would say that)!  :y

Not totally sure about the wheels, but as long as you like them its all good!  :y

Nah wheels are pants and also the wrong offset at 40mm but they came on the car. I`ve got some Azevs that were on my Senator and I`m gonna get them refurbed in black  8-)

I paid £1400 for it, 117k and FSH. Probably a little over the odds but I needed one that weekend as the MOT had expired on my Senator and I needed a car for work. But it also had what I wanted, manual, leather Recaro`s and it`s an MV6.

A few more jobs done yesterday, oil, fuel and air filters done and had the pleasure of the filter housing spinning while trying to undo the cap  >:(
I ended up having to walk down to Hellfrauds and buy a chain type filter removal tool as I only had a strap type and couldn`t get enough grip to hold the housing. It clearly states on the cap 15Nm so why do numpties over tighten them to the point where the whole housing spins when you try to remove the cap?
Once it was removed I took the whole housing off and then cleaned it all up and refitted to 45Nm and then put the new filter in and tightened to 15Nm. Job done  :)

Also put on some clear side repeaters with some silver capped bulbs so the side view is nice and clean  8-)

Can`t wait to get my wheels done now  ;)

Personal choice.

I like the look of the 'v' less grills, but am going to keep my Miggys as standard - soon to be a classic if we wait a bit longer.

Looking forward to seeing the wheels  :y

Had a busy day on Saturday Changing this little lot
(http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w75/Gav24v/DSCF1039.jpg)
I also did the track rods too while I was at it cos the N/S one had a fair bit of play in it. Wishbones are cheapo`s from Vauxhall car parts.

I did the rears last week
(http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w75/Gav24v/DSCF1032.jpg)
All nice new genuine MV6 dampers courtesy of Andy C  :y
The old ones were a nightmare to get off, I ended up using an angle grinder to get the nut off one of them, it just wouldn`t budge
(http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w75/Gav24v/DSCF1041.jpg)

Hopefully I can get some cash together and get my wheels done soon, oh yeah and some poly donuts too  8-)

Well I finally got round to doing a couple more jobs the other weekend, unfortunately the wheels aren`t done yet but more important jobs had to be done.
A while ago I bought a spare breather box from Albs so i followed Andy C`s guide and opened it up and gave it a good clean.
There was a fair amount of crap come out of it, looks better now.

The next job was to remove the plenum and rocker covers so I could replace the gaskets, plugs and leads. The plug holes had plenty of oil in them, two and four also had water in them which left them looking like this.

Number six lead was looking a bit worse off.

This was what the inside of the rocker cover looked like.

I also cleaned all the pipes out on the plenum breathers, one of which also had some mayo in.
The plug leads were Prospark leads from Euro Car parts and looked ok quality wise and were different lengths so fit was pretty good, only time will tell on how long they will last.
Still got some jobs to do but hopefully I can get the wheels done and tyres on for spring time.

Not been on here for a while, too much work and not enough time or money but I finally got round to doing my wheels and getting a new head unit  :)
Head unit was a must cos I hate the radio so I needed to listen growing collection of music, and it had to have Bluetooth and carkit for hands free calling.

I ended up buying a Kenwood double din unit, Omega facia trim with the cage and patch leads for the steering wheel remote controls. First job was to cut the locking tabs from the Kenwood cage and bond them in the correct place in the one that came with the facia trim as the Kenwood cage won`t work with the trim.

It`s a tight fit but there is enough room for it all, the little black box for the patch lead just fits in at the back, tucked in behind the plastic strap, seen just to the right and below the loom.

Multi colour display gets it very close to the omega colours.

And a shot in daylight, trim isn`t perfect but near enough.

Other additions are an LSD which is a blast on the open A roads between Leeds and driffield, lower final drive makes a big difference  :)
The other addition is a bit of a Marmite thing  ;)

Very nice, I bought an Lsd for my diesel, but never got round to fitting it. :y Does it improve acceleration as well? Or is it just good for getting sideways?

The LSD is good for acceleration through the gears, quite addictive really  :) Overtaking is much better with only needing to drop into fourth and you can pull in fifth from 30mph...I like it...a lot  ;D

As for the brick brakes....they were just there while I was changing the diff  :y

Thanks for the comments guys  :)
