engine oil
oil filter
locking kit
head gasket set / bolts
timing belt / tensioner
coolant
Fortes flush
Head Skim?

Have i missed anything? I presume i may as well do belt and tensioner and replace head bolts - is there any worth in reusing whats there ??

Test the head before skimming - straight edge and feeler blades.

If it's a keeper, pop the valves out, renew the stem seals and lap the valves back in for better seating. If it's a flogger, bung a new gasket on there and get it on ebay ;D

New bolts needed as matter of course... check/change the gearbox oil too, easy to do on these, and often filled with the wrong type.

No point doing cambelt kit, if you use the oil waterpump, as the old pump may cause new kit to fail..

Drive a V plate 1.6 Rover !! I dont think so  ;D

Bought for £300 - cash tax in/ add parts required total outlay will be £320.

Going to pap it on `trader and maybe ebay as a £999 car. Book minimum is £1300  :y

the later ones (like my W reg) use a different cambelt kit to earlier, which is double cost...
