Many will know this vehicle, and a few will have seen it.
I've now had it 6 months, and done very few miles, probably about 500 miles in it. It came directly from The Metropolitan Police
I have advertised it before, but things have changed with the vehicle.
The fitment of the new interior is complete, the carpets are rather tired, a new set is included with the sale.
It does not have a radio
It has no MOT, and no RFL
Current mileage is just over 63,000
There is a known issue with the vehicle, with the automatic gearbox. It appears to lose drive sometimes, as if it's gone into neutral. This has happened approx 3 times, once eml came on. Pulling over and restarting reset it and it was fine. Other two times no eml, played up for a few seconds then went back to normal.
I have driven it from Oxford to Dudley with no issue, the gearbox issue comes and goes...I can't find any commonality with the when it happens.
It may need an ATF fluid check, or it may be more severe.
I have put a fair amount of work into this vehicle, and really have lost interest in it, and space.
If required, I will happily put an MOT on it.
Normally I put a price on all vehicles, but in this case feel free to make me an offer.
So, in short summary...2001 3.2 auto with 63,000 warranted miles in moroccan red.
In the previous two adverts, I'd included full details, date of registration etc...if there are any details you want, please let me know.

It was probably my spirited blast around the scrap yards that did the gearbox ;D ;D ;D
In all seriousness, this is a lovely car. Goes like the wind :y

Tunnie said this one went well. But then he has a 2.2 ;D
Good luck with the sale joshwyatt :y. And a reminder to other potential sellers - see how much extra attraction there is if you bother to post up some pics ;)

Thanks TB :y
And thanks Lee and Mark :)
I do find it does go well, especially comapred to the standard auto 3.2, this one has a LSD and the different ratio police spec diff. Which makes the acceleration very rapid, but at the expense of top end speed.

You can feel that Police ratio diff making light work of 0-60 dash, it picks up very well off the mark, corners rather well too!

;D thanks Daz, that's very kind of you :y
It's like you, all you're work is top notch and more than fairly priced, so just trying to make an honest living like you do...as they say honesty is the best policy.

cheers for doing the deal josh, got home lastnight without any major problems, other than fuel consumption but i did get back in a new personal best!
I have spoken with the historic met police group today at a show i went to, they are willing to "consider" helping with bits and bobs for the car to help restore it to the "in service" markings, and then in return they can use it for other shows etc. will make a nice project, but on the back burner due to "real work" priorities!.
thanks once again for your hospitality and honesty.

Glad you got home ok Simon :y
It'll certainly be interesting if you do restore it, as there aren't many DPG examples around.
But as we know, fortunately there aren't many markings needed, I think the rear chevrons would be the most expensive part.
Also be interesting to see what the gearbox fault really is, whether it's a minor one or a whole new box is needed.

hopefuly not a full one, i think a full service and atf change and filters for starters, then see how it goes. when not slipping, it goes like stink, i thought VTL was a quick one!, this one superseeds that statement!!
I know for a fact, the ARVs have a 225 upgrade installed at the police workshops, usualy removed when sold, but some are much much faster than others.
like you said, sold as standard, but a fast car ;) !
-
this car is now all sorted, serviced up and motd, if anyone wants to make an offer on it, i have too many bloody cars in stock again!
-
