Title: Spam scam
Post by: Nickbat on 26 July 2007, 12:12:12
I get a lot of spam which is thankfully picked up by my filter, but every day I still have to go and clean the filter out and check for the odd genuine message that has got trapped. Recently I've notice a huge increase in spam which is along the lines of "You've received an ecard from a neighbour/mate/friend/colleague/family member/ chum/lover etc, etc." No, I bl**dy haven't!!!

When I had a peek inside one of these messages it seems to contain an EXE file, so beware everyone.

Wonder what the scam is?

I get the ecard ones as well and luckily mine get caught in the filter.

Yeah, big increase in those messages, giving our mail relays a good thrashing :(

HEADS UP!

I did some trawling around and found that these messages contain dangerous malware. Seems widespread, too.

Yes, of course they do - no legitimate email would contain an exe file...
