Title: Soldiers, Sailors & Air Force Association (SSAFA)
Post by: Markjay on 27 July 2007, 22:17:32
This was forwarded to me by email, it is genuine and not not a hoax. Anyone who may wish to assist please read.

Request for assistance - Soldiers, Sailors & Air Force Association (SSAFA)

SSAFA are attempting to purchase a 6 bedroom house in the town of Ashtead, Surrey, so that relatives can stay locally whilst visiting their injured loved ones (UK Service personnel from Iraq & Afghanistan).  These Servicemen (& women) are in the nearby rehabilitation centre, RAF Headley Court, for months or even years at a time. It is essential that the families can get a local facility NOW, so that they can visit Headley Court & help in the long-term rehabilitation of their loved ones.

There are some issues over the planning application, which is being contested by some local residents & therefore the planning application has been recommended for refusal. You can help change this decision, due to be discussed at the forthcoming Council Planning Meeting on 01 August by going to the website listed, & following the links at the top of the webpage.

Very many thanks.

I read some of the letters objecting to the application and they made my blood boil!  >:( >:( >:( >:(

Instead of finalising my VAT return, I spent the last hour composing and sending a letter of support.

Let's hope it works.  :y

OK, worthy cause and all that etc....

...however, there needs to be a line drawn so we do not get inundated with similar, possibly less worthy, ones.  Easiest way to drawn that line is none.

I'll lock this one rather than delete, but future ones may get deleted.

No offence intended to anyone, hope none taken :).

Anyone have issue with that decision, PM me or other admin.
