Here is your scenario.
You have just come from your favourite takeaway and are just about stuffed. You have a burger left over. As you turn into a road you walk down the middle of this quiet road with your mates. You have been for a nice drink and this takeaway finishes of the night nicely.
You notice a man sitting on one side. He is tired looking, has obviously been living rough and has a bandage on one leg. He asks if he can have some money for food. On the other side is a dog. It looks tired too. It has been wandering the streets in vein looking for its owner. It is obviously hungry.
You have that burger left. What do you do?

If I could be condifent he would spent the money on food, I would give him a bit of money - and give the burger to the dog. I'd then try and recommend/find an establishment the beggar could go, to sort him self out.
As far as the dog goes, I would probably take him home until morning, give him a good feed/drink/bath and call the RSPCA. Providing he wasn't violent dog - then I'd probably hand him over to police.
Seriosuly, I see lots of beggars in Gloucester. Some are for real, and need help, but some are trying it on.
Now, I like to help people, but I don't like people to take the micheal.
So when they say "have you got a couple of quid, I'm starving" what I do is say - I'm not carrying any cash - but I don't mind popping into Tesco and getting you a couple of bits with my debit card.
The really genuine ones, are grateful, I will get them some bread etc, and it means the money is spent on food rather than drugs / booze.
however the spongers usually say "nah, it's alright" and walk off. That's how I tell the difference.

Now i must admit that is a good answer, i personaly would be inclined to do the same if it wasn`t for the fact that east europeans make it their line of work to sit on the side of the road, normally an old woman with at least 2 children and look up at you with the words please please and expect for you to give then something normally as i have said i would, b..u..t one day i was shopping with swmbo and as you do, let her go in the shop looking, and stayed outside looking at the birds weather i then see the old girl get up and rush around the corner, i thought hello why is she rushing all of a sudden, only to see her getting into a 600 sec and weeing off.................... well i can tell you thats the last time any sciving old git is going to get my money.
As for the dog shoo it off before it keeps me awake all night barking ::) ::)
-
i'd probably give it to the dog
in my opinion the beggar has the facilities to make life better for himself if he so chooses

Reunite the dog with the tramp..Thats probably why theyve split up because the dog bit the tramp on the leg..Hence the bandage.. ;D ;D

i've done some thinking actually, since its takeaway food, it's possible it'll be later on in the day, this homeless guy probably has a few quid on him
sell him the burger!

so if you give the burger to the mutt he may leave the tramps leg to heal up ;D

Shoot the dog, sell it to the local curry house, give the beggar the money!!!!!
-
Morally you should give it to the beggar. Your not giving him money to spend on booze etc. And ultimately a human life is worth more than the dog. BUT!!!!!!!!!!! We are English and we go out in the mid day sun, we would feel sorry for the dog, feed it, take it home and care for it and embrase it into our family. While we report the beggar for vagrance and animal cruellty or something and hope he stays away from our street Go figure EH!! :-?

Nobody said you could eat the dog! But why not feed the dog with the burger, then feed the dog to the beggar - that way for a little while they are both happy :y
-
He, the dog and the dust bin can have them all... I'm a Veggie.. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Disgusting how most people would rather give food to a sodding dog than a fellow human!
This was why I ran this thread. Just to see. I have done this several times over the years and it depends on the country. But in the UK people think more of pets than people. Strange you lot are. Remember, I am NOT british!

I was going ny the votes TD.
:(

If it was round here the man would be getting the sh*t kicked out of him by a gang of hoodies, the dog ( a muzzled pitbull type belonging to the gang) would be straining on the lead trying to get me as I left the scene pronto dropping the burger behind me .................. only joking... I would have eat the burger ;)
-
If someone doesn't have the means to feed themselves then why on earth would they take on an animal they cant possibly look after or feed properly.
Sorry but id have walked past and ignored him....we have a government to take care of these people its not down to an individual to do so,esp when there's a high percentage of the beggars/homeless who would rather buy alcohol/drugs thean food.
And no im not heartless im always happy to help people who genuinely deserve it..... ;)
-
Call the police for the beggar call the RSPCA for the Dog by then you feel
peckish so eat the burger easy ;D ;D :y

purely for sympathy, you're more likely to help out because you feel sorry for the dog
-
Make a mental note to buy one less burger next time ::)
-
I voted neither....
1) If its easier for a human to get what they want by begging than sorting themselves out, then they will never sort them selves out.
2) I wouldn't want to encourage a dog to beg.....that would lower it to the level of the begger!
