Title: Mobile Phone Crisis
Post by: Darth Loo-knee on 01 August 2007, 15:09:35
Spoke to Brother Elite Pete yesterday whilst I was getting a new phone from Virgin Megastore in Crewe...
Then of we went to Llandudno..
So I am there trying to put in the sim card, then the battery and Hey Presto it switched on :y  Something came up on screen about what language i wanted it on, (now the buttons aren't the same as i am used to with Nokia ;D and must have pressed the wrong one ::)
So I have this phone in a foreign language and have no idea what i am pressing >:(
After five minutes i was wondering if i could reach the sea from the bench i was sitting on, battery came out and back in again still in Turkish/Punjarb whatever..
Virgin Customer Services woman who was very nice but wished she hadn't taken THIS call, was ready for the Loo-knee Bin, I think I fried her head in, could imagine her rocking on her chair ;D
in the end she asked if i could take it back the shop ;D

Anyway the moral of this story is: A first you don't succeed, try try again ;D

a common issue their customer service should have no problems dealing with....we used to run with a certain LG model that when it reset, it reset to chinese...

Simple flow chart on the cs side of things should alow them to fix it...ie go down 3 options in this menu, go down 2 options on that menu so that they navigate their way to the language menu. God who made them JD power number 1  :-[

Even easier with the old-skool Nokias cos all the menu items had numbered shortcuts. So it could be as easy as pressing the red button (to ensure you're at the standby screen) then menu-4-7-1. Done, back to English :D

With modern phones where you can rearrange the order of the items it's not so easy. Never had the problem myself, except when I occassionally switch languages for fun :D
