Title: Compression Test - K series
Post by: Markie on 03 August 2007, 13:25:42
okay got my compression testing kit today.

I have to admit this is a whole new area for me and couple with my utter phobia of anything electrical ( car or house) im a bit cautious ( i always get swmbo to connect and disconnect car batteries)

Anyway...instructions refer to removing the positive supply lead to the coil market + or sw....

i cant find anything such....i presume that the 5 leads going into the coil are 4 for sparks ( obviously) and maybe the fifth ( central one) is the lead they refer to - it goes from centre of coil way back down below to block...

anyone.. :-/

No they mean coil.....does this lump have a distributor....if so then follow the centre lead from the dizzy to the coil and disconnect the low tension supplies to the coil.

You shoudl also pull the fuel injection fuse.

And remember, when you take a compression reading you need the throtle wide open.

yep distributor planked onto the side of cylinder head with 5 leads into it, 4 leads from it go into spark plugs but a central lead that runs way back down below onto block - was thinking it was that central plug... :-/

edit - off out to see where that ends up and disconnect it  :y

That fifth lead must got to a coil, its the small wires on the coil that need to be disconnected....not the king lead.
