Hi, I am looking for a Performance Air Filter or Induction Kit for my 2002 2.6 MV6 (AUTO), I dont know if I should spend the time fitting a full induction kit or just go for a performance air panel in the standard box!!
Any advice would be much apreciated.
Any other advice on squeezing a few cheeky BHP's would be cool, Going to santa pod in sept and I dont wanna be dissapointed!!
Cheers All

In my opinion - it will cost you £££`s not gain you any bhp but will sound nice. Stick to vx parts here - their own filters are good enough.
May not be what you want to hear though..

Hi Richard and welcome to the forum.
I would stick with the standard filter which if clean will work as well if not better the an induction kit/panel filter. The problem with the induction kit is you have to isolate it from the engine compartment of it will suck warm air. The problem with panel filters is a large number of them are coated with oil and if to much oil is used in the cleaning process it can coat the MAF sensor and knacker it up. One thing you do get with both filters is more induction noise :y

I agree with Markie there are so many firms offering boosters up to 40Bhp and more all it does is make it sound better with no apparent increase in power :y

Thanks guys, I understand what you mean, I wouln't mind just trying a performance panel filter cos there not expensive just to see, I might not even like it, I love the V6 sound but I would like it to sound a little more grunty, I know I'm not gonna get any performance increase, do you think a panel filter would sound much different to standard or do you need a cone or full induction kit to get the full Dolby V6 Roar!!
p.s. I'm not a boy racer or nothing, just want a little bit more noise from the engine!! while still being quiet when driven normally.
Cheers Chaps

I had a K&N panel filter in my old Elite & didn't notice any difference whatsoever.
So I put an induction kit on using the original air feed from the air box & the only difference I could tell was the induction noise, it's not to every bodies taste but I like it :)
However the cone was oiled & threw up MAF errors over time.....

If you have a cone fliter please make it sealed by putting a sheet of ally around it to prevent heat transfur. IMHO i'd go for a pipercross pannel filter :y

If you want instant extra performance get a chip of M-Tech, think you get about 20 bhp... :y
