Hi m8s,
I am hoping someone can help me out with a dis pack and set of ignition leads for an Elite 2.5.
Thanx

Thanx everyone for looking but the misfiring got a lot worse, down to 4 pots, so I had to suffer the VX prices and get it done.
Thankfully it had not damaged the cats!
One thing it made do was to buy an "My Naff Code Reader" unit!

Hi Bionic,
Do you know what the main stealers said the problem was? I've got something similar on a 98 2.5 V6 and slowly I'm running out of possible faults!
Cheers M8

MKerr. I doubt the stealers would have said what the problem is. However the DIS pack on the V6 is located down the back of the engine (at the rear) and fails due to corrosion. This can be caused by water dripping from a faulty Heater Bypass Hose (HBV). I also suspect that under certain conditions a faultily refitted scuttle rubber allows rain water in and down the back.
Mine failed and the symptoms were it would run fine but developed a slight misfire under load at around fifty miles per hour.(when accelerating to go up a hill for e.g.) It got worse and worse over time while I replaced plugs and plug leads. Classicly you get a misfire on two cylinders.
I guess you have exhausted the faulting process as far as spark plugs and leads are concerned? faulty leads often show up in the dark.
If you change your DIS pack there is info in the maintenance guides. It is a fiddly job but doable. It is best to take yours off and get the part number before sourcing a new or S/H replacement as there are different types and the 98 cars had two different types fitted I believe.

Superb Varche,
I had PM from Bionic, when the stealers were finished and the problem remained, he changed the leads and the matter was solved. Unfortunately, I've changed crank sensor and diss so far (thinking I had ESP regarding the problem). I've got some leads on the way so hope to get them changed at the weekend. Then crossed fingers...
Thanks for the advice. I hope this solves things as I've had her off the road for a while now(a very long story) to get things sorted and can't wait to cruising again.
