I'm looking for a 17" steel rim or alloy with or without tyre, to be used as a spare wheel.

What's up with the 15" that Vauxhall put there? ;) All Omegas have a 15" as standard :y

i thought because i had the 17 elite alloys i would need a 17!?

A 235/45R17 won't fit in the spare wheel well.
A 195/65R15 or 205/65R15 should have a very similar rolling radius. Just take it easy on roundabouts until you get a full size tyre again. Also bear in mind that tyres are date marked and the 15" spare is probably as old as the car and should have been replaced years ago......

definitely :-[ its a four stud!!

Definitely what?
I thought all Omegas used a 5 bolt hub. Does your spare actually fit the car?

I see why you need a spare, and understand you want a matching one. The problem is, it won't fit in the wheel well!!! That's why Vauxhall put a 15" there. Sorry.
edit - OOPS, just noticed Andy H already said that, i'll get my coat.
