Title: the peril,s of ebay omega,s
Post by: maddy on 06 August 2007, 16:45:47
Any body who is a avid reader on this forum may rember me last week asking quistions and advise on a 3.0 elite that i was thinking of buying of ebay? well i took the plunge and was the winning bidder on said omega. I was fully prepared to spend quite a bit of cash to get it up to srcatch and was not expecting a mint example. but after a winning bid was placed at Ł770 i thought i might have done ok?......what happend next was totally unexpected and totally out of my control.

On contacting the seller the first thing i was told was that the omega would be avalable for collection only from leeds city center.  (alarm bells ringing now)

so having refused to collect from anywhere other than the adress on the v5 and loads of phone calls. it imerged that this private seller was in actual fact a dealer and not a good dealer at that. who thought that he could put anything in his advert and that if i bidded i would have to pay.

So obviously i refused to continue with the transaction through fear of buying a stolen, dodgey car?

so far over the weekend i have had 34 phone calls from this so called man threating death and beatings to me and my famly. he even told my 4 year old that he is going to rip her f*!**ng head off?

so the police were contacted and this man has been arested and charged with threating behaveour...

would hate anybody to go through what me and my famly has been through in the last 72hrs. just be carefull and ask all the right quistions. i was so caught up in the mechanecal side of things i just did not think to ask the most basic of quistions.

1) can i collect the car from the adress on the v5

2) are you a private seller or trader

3) is your name on the v5 and could you provide proof of that

so am gona be extra carfull now but it hasnt turned me of the fact that i whant a omega?     so anybody with a decent 3.0 elite or mv6 msg me  (just be gentle)

My God that's awful.
Hope you and your family are OK, that is a terrible situation.

As far as checking the car, I know what you mean, I bought my Omega from a reputable dealer but I still went through all the HPi checking for fear of missing something obvious on the car.

I think, as we are all (except me) Omega fans, it may be in the forum's interest to name this ebay member so we can all steer clear.

Hope your little girl is OK! Jeez, what a nasty twisted git this must be. A 4 year old girl threatened?

A bit of research done..... Would this be the seller who has now relisted the car with tthe wording 'Relisted due to dreaming Idiot?' If so, you can now sue him for libel as he has defamed your good name in a public place in writing. Take him to the cleaners.

You made all the right decisions and actions on the outcome of this Omega you bid on..Its a shame you had to go through this when all you want is a honest transaction and a decent car...Better luck next time it takes the minority to spoil things..

Glad everyone is OK..

I cant believe this scum would droop so low as to scare a 4 year old girl,

 >:(I've had to "compose myself" before replying. I could laugh off the bad dealing & abuse but what he said to your 4yr old is inexcusable, all legallities & moral rules go out the window.
At that point i'd have apologized, arranged to meet & buy the car & gone with a vanload.
I know that's not really the right way, two wrongs, fire & fire, etc. You kept your cool which in all honesty makes you a better man than me & there's repercussions to consider so you did the right thing.
I hope you find a more suitable way of dealing with this retard.
Regards to you & your family. Cheers, Guy.

Anyone that threatens a four year old like that must have a screw loose and should be arrested certified and banged up where they can do no harm to anyone for a long long time.

if he has sent you any threatening emails etc via ebay contact them and that way he is in breach of their polices....Banned.

But that of course is the minimum result that we should be seeing for his diabolical actions towards you  :(

What a total looser, I bet he has not got the guts to stand up and say those things to people face to face. I hope the police deal with it, but knowing them it will come back not in the public interest and he will walk off in to the sun set.

Regards to your family and I hope your little one is young enough to be able to forget it.

I agree with the other comments that ebay should get involved and ban him from selling further.

Yes it would be nice to go around with a van load but the powers that be would then make an example for the wrong reasons.

I asked the seller whether the car was registered to him and if i bidded on the item and was sucessful where would I have to collect the vehicle from.

Response: Not registered to him as he bought that one then found another one eg blue and then bought that one. Did not respond on where to collect vehicle from.

I have just sat here reading this post, I am climbing the walls and would love to meet this piece of low pond life, who does he think he is, threatening a 4 year old, what a big man he is, threatening your family.

Can't put in print what I think of this guy. Shows what use EBAY feedback is. Looks like his record is pretty clean but on the other hand he sounds like a nasty piece of work rather than someone who you just caught having a bad day.

Hope your little'un is Ok and is able to understand that you can't let these types get under your skin.

I'd elevate this everywhere you can- with the police, ebay and anyone else you can think of. The tw@ deserves to be put to some serious inconvenience over this.

I sent one lastnight asking similar polite questions ie any warranty, history etc. If he's got half the brain he's got mouth he may have smelt a rat and found us on here 'coz i got no reply from him but did from an ebay user advising me to check his feedback before bidding.

If you want to mess up the guys auction then could you place a (highish) bid early to kill the auction then retract at the last minute?
You can retract by saying you entered an incorrect amount (had it done to me by a genuine bidder) - be worth checking if you have to do this within a certain time of making your bid but as far as I know you can't be negged for this.

hound the tw&t to hell. leave it for 6 months then send him washed boxershorts in a jiffybag with kisses on the outside and a note "left at my house", send him a sample of everything disgusting, bondage brochures, other personal mags, order him cash on delivery items and like someone suggested make up a dummy ebay account from lands end and constantly outbid him and others on his stuff. or you could take a crew to his slum and wash his gob out with carbolic.............

At times like this I find myself trying to think of something better.... But it's no use. Try as I might to come up with the perfect snottogram I'm drawn back to the closing paragraph of the infamous NTL letter:

Quote
I enclose two small deposits, selected with great care from my cats litter tray, as an expression of my utter and complete contempt for both you, and your pointless company. I sincerely hope that they have not become desiccated during transit - they were satisfyingly moist at the time of posting, and I would feel considerable disappointment if you did not experience both their rich aroma and delicate texture. Consider them the very embodiment of my feelings towards NTL, and it's worthless employees.
