Title: Tech2 Programmer up for sale
Post by: Dave DND on 22 February 2011, 23:13:07
We recently aqquired a genuine Tech2 programmer from a Suzuki dealership that has gone belly up, that has the Suzuki software loaded onto the PCMCIA memory card, but after some investigations, we have discovered that the programmer is not quite as powerfull as the workshop based system that we are currently using, and so we are looking to get rid of it rather than upgrade it any further ourselves.

New programmers are prohibitively expensive, thats if you can locate them, and second hand ones are exceptionally rare and do not come up often - the last genuine one I saw reached over £1500 on ebay.

One of the ODB plugs has a cracked outer casing, and the carrying case also has a crack in it, but the unit itself appears to function perfectly.

I know how valuable the Tech2 programmers can be in the Vx world, and with a bit of investment in the correct software that is very readily available (Genuine Vx software around £250), this may prove to be a usefull tool for someone out there in "OOFerland".

Looking for offers around the £800 mark for it if anyone is interested

 ;)

Jimbob, thanks for moving to somewhere more appropriate

 :y

Don`t be fooled that this could not be a very powerfull Vx tool because of the Suzuki badge, if that is what you are thinking, then please read something else, as this is not for you !!
 ;)

Although it may look like a Suzuki part, the Tech2 is actually a generic programmer that can take on different guises depending on which software card is inserted. Ignore the Suzuki sticker on it, that is nothing more than a badge, as it ended up at a Suzuki dealership. It currently has the 10MB card with Suzuki software on it.
 ;)

It is possible to convert these to Vauxhall / Opel / Saab by simply inserting a different PCMCIA card with the relevant software on it. There are 2 card slots, so you can actually utilise two manufacturers by simply toggling the on screen display.
 :y

If you wanted to convert to Vauxhall use, you need to purchase a 32MB card, and this can even be supplied with the genuine software pre-installed (£250) from a diagnostic company I have dealt with on 0845-6439445 (ask for Gary or Andrew) who will be able to offer all the help you need providing you buy the upgrades from him. please don`t waste their valuable time if you are going to surf the net for the cheapest supplier though, that would be unfair on them.  For later Vauxhalls, roughly 03 onwards, you will also need to purchase a CanDi module, and I`ll let you research that one as prices can cary from £150 for a used one to £450 for a new one - just beware of the chinese copies.
 :-X

Looking for around £800, although you all know by now that I often have moments of madness and weakness, so Motorbikes, Wierd cars, Arcade machines and such like may even be considered as part of a deal.
 :-?

Just don`t offer me your old Omega though . . . NO!

Damn!  Foiled my plan.  Would an old Xbox/PS1/PS2 or PC be considered?

Certainly - if working and complete with all leads and games, I`ll knock around a quid off my asking price.

Just to add to that, no I am not a collector of consoles - so please don`t PM me with your X-Box collection - I used to have an Amusement Arcade, and old machines / pinballs etc is about my only interest in gaming

 :)

But I do welcome the P/X line of thought - who knows !!

Tempting, but it would be too far to go back if I developed a taste for the stuff - besides, my favourite brewery is in the other direction at St Austell -

Can`t beat a pint or three of "Tribute"

St Austell Brewery, know their Beers well, used to Manage a Heavy Metal Band in St Austell many moons ago (dont ask!), spent a lot of time down there in the Pubs and Clubs, some great places and good memories.

Half way to paying for itself already (well at dealer's rates anyway).

Nope - they eat those expensive 32Mb cards for breakfast, so even if I did have a spare, I would not part with it. Shame its so fussy, as our routers use 256Mb Linears, if only they would work ::)

Where's the best place to get one then?  Will a generic 32Mb PCMCIA flash drive do, no?

And do you know a good place to get the CanDi module?

Any help greatfully received.

there is no such thing as a generic pcmcia flash. it uses linear, not ATA, but all the programming voltages have to be right.

CANdi doesn't come up often.

Buy a proper Card with software pre-installed from an approved supplier, you really are asking for trouble if you don`t !!

Blank card - load your own software?
Don`t even go there !!!

Thanks for the offers guys, but I`m trying to find something in good condition and am fully aware that most of you are offering me stuff that has already been "Rear Ended"  - the one I have here definately has a blown exhaust and could do with her oil changing !
